Huison, I will be fitting a Hacker C50-13XL and HackerMaster Spin 99 ESC.

GaRCfield, this plane is priced similarly to a Comp-ARF plane (but cheaper than OXAI), although it is a different construction to both. The Wind S Pro has composite fuselage (painted in the mould) with fully built up wings and stab, covered with Oracover (ribs and fully sheeted).

It is nicely built, but the finish is not as good as an OXAI plane. OXAI still produce the nicest finished planes I have ever seen.

Cheers, JB

Jeff,
Great weight for wings and the total weight only kit with wheels? The plane is coming in the second week of January.
I have one in back order with Esprit Models and the motor will be Hacker 13XL and Hacker 99 Spin.
Do you have ideas of how to place the motor with less possible weight.
Thanks

Rally,

Mine weighs 2217g bare airframe including landing gear (but minus tail wheel).

It doesn't come with mounts for the Hacker (which would have been nice). I am going to use a carbon front mount that I have left over from the Integral, and will probably make the rear mount from 3mm light ply laminated with carbon cloth.

Pricing is usually the same for both . . . about US$800.

The 13XL will provide approx. 500 RPM more at the prop, full throttle static . . eg. 13XL approx 6500 RPM, AND 14XL approx 6000RPM (assuming the pack is holding 35V under load / 3.5V per cell)

Yes it would, but it will draw more Amps . .

I will be trying a APC 21x13E (recommended by Silvestri with this set-up) to start with; also test a 20.5x14E, and check/log the performance. I am looking at RASA carbon props as well.

I know of others using the APC 21x14 on the 14XL with good results . . but probably a little too much prop for the 13XL.

I am sure I have read a lot of info and data on these motors on various forums, including here on RCU. I will be looking back over the info soon . . however I am sure the 21x13 is a good start for the 13XL.

I was just over at Esprit a few minutes ago and saw a stack of SebArt boxes. I got to inspect one of the 110's....beautiful ARF.

Hi Jeff,

Could you share your overall impression on the quality compare to CARF Integral, especially the wings and stabs? It is understandable that OXAI is still ahead, but since the price is comparable to CARF, I would be happy if the quality is also in similar level.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin . .

The finish is not as nice as OXAI, but I have never owned an OXAI plane (yet) so I can’t comment on the build quality comparison between the two.

I have two Comp-ARF planes, and comparing it to my later plane (Integral) it is certainly more than comparable. It IS built differently so a direct comparison can not be made, however the painting (in the mould) is better, and the seam is neater than the Integral (NO seam on the canopy). The fuse is composite glass sandwiched (some kind of) green fabric/foam ?? Not sure on this. Looks nicely moulded and stiff with carbon in the front half . . although I did like the balsa / glass fuse of the Integral. The canopy/hatch is already fitted with locating pins and “push-button†release. No work to be done there. It doesn’t come with much in the way of battery mount or rudder servo mount (which is OK, I have my preferences), BUT it would have been nice to get mounting parts for the recommended HACKER motor . . but not a deal breaker.

The wings and horizontal stab are built up ribs and fully sheeted with balsa . . and they are a work of art. Very nicely made and light. The wings and stab ARE film covered, and is very nicely done with Oracover I believe (and is high quality covering IMO). I think it will be fine, especially with EP.

The hardware (linkages/rods/tail wheel/etc.) is ordinary but would work OK (we don’t get any of this with Comp-ARF anyway . . nor OXAI either I think) . . I may swap them out. The spinner is heavy and a bit awkward looking (yes, it comes with a spinner), and I won't be using it

Over-all . . the build quality seems a little better and lighter than Comp-ARF.

Could I recommend the plane to a competitive F3A pilot?? Absolutely . . I think it's GREAT.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for taking the time to explain the build quality. The main concern I had was the wings and stab, but if the overall impression is comparable or perhaps slightly better than CARF planes, I am sure I will be very happy with it too, as I have owned three to date already. As far as other hardware or parts goes, I am not too concern with them, because I have my own preference anyway. Once this becomes available here, I will most likely be getting one, but in my case, it will be an outrunner instead.

Jeff

Can you check spinner size, is it 84mm ?
Have not recived my Wind S PRO but have started to check what pars i need to finish it.
Are there any honycomb plate for rudder servo and battery instalation included in kit.

/ Anders

Yes, it is a 84mm Spinner (I am using a 83mm TY1 spinner. There is a slight discrepancy in the match, but it is not much.)

It comes with a small sheet of Carbon laminated balsa, I will probably use it for something, although I will make a new Battery mount and Rudder servo mount.

I was curious to see what would be the drag generated by the wings from Wind S Pro compared to the wings of Wind 110, and surprise, surprise the effect of thinner profile is almost completely canceled by the larger surface area! Seems like Seba prefers to have the same feeling from all of his planes!

This conclusion is based on a simulation done in motocalc considering that the wing profile is the same and only relative thickness is changed. Most probably the real life result is not far away from this simulation.

Good evening,

let me present a small clip about the new Seba's Wind S Pro made from the maiden flight last week by its proud owner and pilot, Mario Reviriego from Spain.

[link]http://vimeo.com/8151089[/link]

The plane is a real Seba's design since first sight. Very light, around 4500 grams including batteries and with a very good covering IMHO.

I hope Mario comes here and tell us more about it and his personal view about the plane.

Hello everyone, I'm Mario Reviriego and received the Wind S Pro a month ago. The finish is great, not as a Oxai but very very good. The fuselage is painted in the mold and the finish is perfect. It's a very light plane. The wings and stabilizers are finished in wood, not as oxai fiber, and are therefore very lightweight. This past weekend I have flown the plane for the first time. The flight is spectacular. The wing is thin and so the plane is accelerating on the downhills but that can be solved with engine brake. My plane is equipped with the following components:

Motor: AXI 5324/25
Controller: Jeti Spin 99
Servos:
Aileron Servo Futaba S9154x2
Elevator servo Futaba S9650x2
Rudder Servo Futaba S9255x1
Receiver: Futaba 8-Channel Receiver R6008HS
Rx Batteries: Lipo Rhino 360mha x2
Rx Voltage Regulator LRP

At the moment I am waiting for a new spinner that weighs between 20-25 grams. The final weight is 4500-4600 grams depending on batteries. I use Flighmax 4000 mha 20c and 53224/25 Axi consumption is low and power is plentiful. The spinner that comes with the kit is ugly and heavy.
The snaps and barrels are very smooth and precise and the plane has nothing to envy of a oxai plane.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask me.

mariorevi , hi .... Nice to have you here. well i am getting one pre-order 4 months ago .... and will have mine on the way within 2 weeks .
last week i was in BANGKOK , in a competition "Thai KINGS-CUP" , one of the flyer from Germany ,name Micheal come with a WINDS PRO 2M with contarotation prop!
Ihave seen this plane flys , so smooth and presice and slow! much slower than the Japan made Pigasus E-power also ...!

Can you list out the Prop size you are using ?
Amp draw from this Axi motor .....

As for the wing and stab , i am planing to use Futaba 9650 servo , 9255 for the rudder .
Esc CC85Hv "without heatsing"
CC 10amp regulator
Motor -??
Battry 5s Rhino 4900mah or flightmax 4400mah 20c

Well we will see , when mine arrive .... !

Hi Mario. Congratulations on your new airplane.

A little hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like you are using 8S packs . . and 4000mAh (as stated). Nice weight with this set-up . . which means mine should finish up around 4900gms without using the lightest 5000mAh 10S packs available .

I am curious though . . Do you have a power reading (Watts) on this set-up? What schedule are you flying with it, and how many mA do you draw from your packs?

JB
