Huge Noob

Hey everyone....Here's my story.

I'm completely and totally lost. I am willing to bet the info I need is on this forum somewhere....but I'm such a Noob I don't even know what terms to search for.

I'm a dad, I decided to upgrade my kid's ECX Boost for Christmas. Bought a bunch of stuff from Hobby King. I actually have it all hooked up and installed....the part I can't figure out is how to program the ESC? I have this programming box thing and it has all these settings like 'Boost timing' 'Brake Frequency' 'Punch Profile' Voltage Cut-Off' -

This stuff may as well be written in Latin.....I don't have a clue what a punch profile is, or what percentage my drag brake should be?????

In short, none of this makes any sense to me, I don't have a clue what to do.

Everyone...nevermind...I had the motor plugged into the program card backwards. So, it works now.

Still could use an explanation of what these terms mean, i.e. what settings am i choosing.

Now cannot get the throttle calibrated. Starting to wish I just bought the kid a GD dog!!!
