damp receiver junk or not ?
I have a receiver that spent some time in the rain ( it was stuck
in the top of a tree OK ) The receiver was wraped in foam and
spent the majority of the summer in the elements. I opened
it up and there was moisture inside the case. Is this worth
sending in to Futaba or is it a lost cause, if so what are the
rates do they charge to check them out ???

Open the case and let it air dry. Don't use a heat gun or hairdryer, just let it air dry for a few days.
Then plug up everything and do a range check. If it is range checking as far as it did before, go fly. If it doesn't, send it in.
I used to do a lot of airboat racing in the 80's and my receivers invariably got wet when the boat flipped. Maintenance was as above and it always worked as advertised.
YMMV
