Default Question bout Flea Market FM Remote

hey guys. hope all had a great holiday weekend. i was wondering something.... me and my wife were at a local flea market this weekend and i was scouring the tables for junk and i ran across a lady who had a RC remote. it was a JR Racing xr3i fm 3 channel. it was complete minus the battery door. all in all i bought it for a buck. so i figured money well spent. so my question is can u find a reciver for it? it was just the remote (which suprisingly worked). also, does it have to be from the same company? or can it be from anyone as long as the freq matches? also, are the radios any good?

Do you know what frequency the transmitter was on? Is it 72Mhz? You should be able to use other Hitec and JR receivers.

It should be either in the 75MHz band, or the 27 MHz band - it's a surface radio, can't be used at 72 MHz.

Right!! I am a flyer and I have not used an RC car since the early 80's.

I have seen two inexpensive RC electric airplanes out at our flying field, in the past 2 weeks, that were both on 27Mhz, Ch08.

Pretty sure Hitec, JR, and Novak would make 75 MHz car receivers that you could use. I have a JR XS3 radio that I picked up for my son, and have a Novak receiver to use with it.

You'd have to know for sure what channel or specific frequency it is on, to make sure you get the proper receiver crystal to use with your transmitter.

Check this out, it might be informative -

Yes, it's a good deal, but you can't use it in a model airplane on that frequency.

Channels above 60 are "ground channels" and are to be used for cars, trucks, tanks, etc.

JR uses positive shift...you should stick with like brands unless you know exactly what you are looking for.
I would go with a JR receiver and servos from Horizon Hobby. You can contact them through RCU. Check out the car forums for more info too, about what receiver to buy, to go along (best ) with that transmitter.
