Can someone give me some advice? I put a bid in on a futaba on ebay and then I noticed a note at the bottom of the listing that it is a Ham freqency and I would have to change the crystal out. Is this a big deal and is it a good radio?

You'd have to swap more than a crystal, that's an entire band change you'd have to have it sent in to a professional to re-tune the radio.

If you are buying the whole radio, the transmitter module or the RF section will also have to be replaced, in addition to the receiver. It really isn't cost effective to convert unless it is one of the hi dollar, top-of-the-line radios.
