Default New 2.2 Crawler, Kyosho Rock Force

Sorry if it's old news, but I just stumbled upon it. Looks nice. Articulation seems a bit weak but I like the use of worm gears.

It certainly looks cool. New vehicles that resemble toy-grade RCs are tough to look at sometimes.

Yeah, take a look at the Traxxas Summit lol. The body looks like all the FJ Cruiser toys you see.

In any case, the body is the easy part to change. I like the idea of using worm gears, basically means that the truck won't move in any direction unless the torque is coming from the motor. Good to make sure you don't roll backwards while crawling.

The lack of articulation is a bit concerning though.. I'd have preferred to see that drivetrain technology applied to a more articulate and longer wheelbase chassis.

If it catches on, the aftermarket will fix that in short time. Look what is happening to the wheelie king now...

I think Kyosho needs to partner up with a mega retailer again (like Tower). Their stuff is just too hard to get parts for. I hate shopping shopkyosho.com because you will never pay less than MSRP and there is no competition. Kyosho makes some of the best cars/trucks in the industry with one of the worst distributor networks. Something about Tower and Kyosho just seemed right, I guess because Tower is where I drooled all over Kyosho stuff as a kid.

Amainhobbies.com sells Kyosho stuff, so check them out.

In any case, according to the owner of my LHS Tower and Kyosho had a falling out over pricing issues some years back.

I have a Giga Crusher and Mad Force. I have never seen anything but a small random parts selection for either truck anywhere but Kyosho's site. The buggies are probably different. When either of my trucks break I have to go Kyosho direct and it gets expensive.

Yeah, the trucks are hard to get parts for. The buggies and parts are available in many more places.

Which in my experience with Kyosh vehicles is often. I think the Rock Force looks decent and I like the worm gears and built in dig but I wouldn't touch that thing with a ten foot poll until Kyosho started selling their stuff at Tower (or another big retailer that will stock everything) again. Even then I wouldn't be all that interested just due to the lack of good customer service Kyosho has.
