I used an automotive primer on the fuselage, then Krylon gloss black. Not easy to paint an airplane with black spray paint.

Getting lots of coats of paint sprayed! Slowly coming together, starting to look like something.

Thankyou Jim
I really like this era of aircraft. I wish I built more of them. I also like the Fairchild aircraft a lot. The 24 and 25 are some of my favorites. This is actually my third Stinson Reliant. I forgot to mention I once had a sterling version many years ago along with one the same as this project.

In this set of photo's I show the cowl being painted and the parts to the dummy engine. The engine I purchased from Nick Ziroli. It is a Resin cast that FTE distibutes. Frank Tiano Enterprises. All the aluminum parts I made, the engine comes with nothing to detail with thats up to the builder on how far you want to go.

While building the dummy engine, we had lost power so I used a battery operated light to guide my evening work. As you can see the engine comes to life in these photo's.

Very nice TK, nice detail on the breather pipr clamps and hoses. A well detailed engine sure makes a lot of difference. Beautiful aircraft all around, really fine work.

"Not easy to paint an airplane with black spray paint."

If you think that is not easy, try white sometime. I used to do a lot of model airplane, motorcycle, and occasional car/truck painting at home. I did a two tone red over white on my truck, and the white was the most difficult to control and see what was happening, that I had ever done.

Very nicely done. Makes me wonder why we go to all the trouble with elaborate paint, air brushes, compressors and all that stuff.

TK, DJ, One of our local club members told me Krylon was ok to use with glow fuel. I tested that and it is not glow fuel proof, but i thought it would be ok with gasoline.

Thanks, I've always been a dope paint guy. Then latexes, now I'm screwing with spray cans, I guess I'm getting lazy in my old age. I don't plan on pouring gas all over my plane anyway. But I will most likely start using Rustoleum instead.

I painted the cowl on my 1/3 N 28 with krylon and, no, I haven't poured gas all over it (yet) and so far so good. Guess I better seal it with something else????

Tom,
It seems that we like alot of the same type of planes, hopefully family plans don't get in the way of Rhinebeck this year would like to talk in person.
there wasw a gullwing at orange county airport several years ago going to waste. dont far from you.it was outside and not airworthy when i saw it. it would be worth it to take piks for details if it is still there.

TK, I had to remove a few of the bottom cylinders of my radial engine to cool the Brison 3.2 I was using. It looks like you have yours blocked. I can't tell from hear if there is enough air flow around yours. I use Rustoleum on all my gassers. It holds up well. Dan.

Hi fred
Yes I'll have to look into that. It would be nice to walk up to one for more details.
Thanks
Dan
So far It has not over heated on me. I did run it for a while on the ground, and in the air it was fine. So far so good. This plane has already flown. This posting is last summers build.
