Hi guys! Thanks for the compliments. (Abu, I know you love me)
I've been working on the Radiator. I start out with my drawings printed on card stock and attach them to the material with a re-positionable spray adhesive. Then I cut them out and glue it all together. The "rivets" are just pins. I have all the parts cut out for the shutters. (Talk about time consuming!) I'll let you know when I get them assembled.

Really nice, clean work. I always seem to be trying to find solutions for things I didn't plan out. For example, I used thin aluminum for the side attachment brackets...and two of the four failed during my flight today.

Nice job Steve.....Wow aluminum shutters !!! you are the brave sort..not many go that far with the SE5. I use the same system with card stock templates and then transfer to the substrate to be used...get it done right the first time usually
Looking forward to see the front end done... will the shutters be functional ??

Here are a couple of pics. One when the radiator was new, and one after gravity got a hold of it! The third shot is one of the shutter slats. At this scale I wasn't able to make them functional. I hope to make them work on my third scale.

The Radiator is almost finished. I still have some assembly work on the shutters, but I can work on them a little at a time while I work on the rest of the build.
I'm almost ready to start covering. I used SIG Koverall last time and I really liked the finished texture.

Great job on the grill Steve, Funny we are both working on the same part at the same time...mines at 1/4 scale ..Yes those shutters give you a lot to do, many intricate pieces...I'm already wondering about the first nose over...cringe....
Thanks for the inspiration.

Hey, Old Scale Guy! I'd love to come. Just let me know where it's at.
Mein Duff. How is your build going. How about some pics?
Abu, as usual, you're a man of vision. I have a second radiator (a reject from the first build). It will grace the nose at least for the first few flights

My Feedback: (2)
We have a great flying site at the northwest corner of Freeman Field.
This is our first (hopefully annual) scale contest.
There is a link to a map on the club's web site.

I will definitely be doing my first few flights with the grill off till I see how it handles....but yes that little petcock valve will be a gonner....mine is deigned to snap off.....also will leave the Lewis gun off the top wing.
Interesting how some biplanes handle upon touch down. My 1/4 Fleet has never nosed over...just keep the elevator up as soon as touch down...hope it's same with the SE5a but with a longer and heavier nose I'm a bit concerned...maybe needlessly....
