Default Precision Scale Model Engineering

I'll been looking for tools for model boat building. I came across a supplier called Precision Scale Model Engineer that has a one page Website advertising its 315 page catalog claimed to have everthing including over 6000 products in the tools section. There's no date, I don't even know if the company is still around, and the catalog costs $20 (but there's a $14 discount on the first order)..

Has anyone here every had dealings with this outfit? http://www.psmescale.com/

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!!

I have heard the name before but not sure if it was for good reasons or not so good - sorry I cannot be of more help there. The street address they list on the site shows up as a house in a neighborhood so not sure how big an operation they have.

One company I have had some dealings with is www.micromark.com who have a variety of tools, hardware, fittings etc. Not sure what your shopping for but they may have something of interest.

Thanks for the info. I know about MicroMark. The other place (PSME) sounds interesting because of the very large number of items they claim to have available. I found a 5-year old ref on the net that says it is indeed a one-man operation.

I looked up the address as it is only an hour away from me and I thought it might be worth the drive to check out a shop like that - just not sure he wants me at his house.

Certainly let us know how you make out. Seems odd that they have such a print catalog yet cannot scan it and share it on their website - be easy to do and surely would help potential customers see what they have on offer.

You might try:

http://www.widgetsupply.com/

For items like micro-drivers (set), micro-files (set) and small clamps,
I get those at Harbor Freight.

http://www.harborfreight.com/

Please be more specific about which tools you are looking for.

Thanks Nailhead.

Widget Supply is new to me and looks interesting. I'm not looking for anything specific or hard-to-find right now. What interested me about PSME was the claim that they had a 300 page catalog, which suggests a vast inventory. If legit, they are very strangehuge catalog and almost invisible!

PSME was recommended to me purchase American style fluke anchors for a scale boat.
The lack of online product listings is a barrier, but I was told that the owner would be happy to discuss business.

The person looking for anchors found an adequate part somewhere else, so PSME was never contacted.
