Default Steel wheeled mid tiger, finished!

Hey folks, she's finally done, the build threads here:

https://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/foru...p?f=23&t=13476

In case you don't fancy wading through pages of my yabbering here's a brief background:

The tank modelled is a mid tiger but one from a batch which used the steel wheels (making my life easier!). The basis for this model is the taigen full metal late tiger. Onto this I grafted the upper hull from a merit (aka wsn, hobby boss etc) mid tiger. I've used the voyager photo etch set and some other scratch built features. Anyway hope you enjoy.

Phenomenal, Tom, truly phenomenal. BUT, it's not finished until I get to see it move in the video!! I'd come and take the video for you but I don't think I can swim that far.

Looks awesome! Figures are really well done, too. Where did you get them?

Hey Phil the figures are the verlinden tiger/panther crew. I think I got them from welsh dragon, need to get another set but seems he's stopped stocking them.

Tom,
Your Tiger is exceptionally done I particularly like the worn look of the paint going through to the red oxide primer this is far more authentic than some of the rusted relics that people insist on building this Tiger is the best I have seen in a long time, your Tiger represents an early February 44 Tiger so would be classed as a late Tiger, the 25mm turret roof, lack of close defence weapon, large muzzle break, lack of hull cut-outs (some late mid production Tigers had the cut outs) , 700mm idler, steel wheels and binocular gun sights are all classic February 44 features.

Wow. I'm pretty much speechless. You've really raised the bar and given me new goals to achieve. You also answered a question with the video as I've been wondering if you were able to retain the LED effect in that truly amazing bow machine gun and I see you have. That's one very small portion of this incredible build that I'm pretty sure I can duplicate. I'll have to go back and check my notes, but I'm pretty sure you said that was the aber barrel.

Was this the verlinden tank crew?

https://www.verlindenonline.com/120m...crew-2374.html

I just saw those somewhere, now I just have to remember. Easier said than done for an old hippie like me.

Hey max, yes they are the crew figures I used, the advantage is they will do another tank too! The machine gun is from Rctank.de it's about 19 euros but not cheap, but worth it I think! I believe they've adapted the aber barrel to run a fibre option strand down it. The AA mg barrel is the aber one.

I'll check out rctanks.de and see about picking up a couple of those. They really do look great, especially compared to the plastic rod that comes with most tigers.

Nice video. Trying to tell from the lapels if those are Waffen-SS or Wehrmacht uniforms...nice to have enough to do two tanks. That's a plus. I assume they come unpainted.

Another source for some good figures: http://modellbaugasse.de/shop/catego...aram=cid%3D%26

Here's another GREAT source for figures:

https://www.scalehobbyist.com/

Click on scales and select 1/16 and they have almost 400 items, with over 100 specific to WWII. They carry both the German tank crews at decent prices.

Hey Tom, just one more question (for now) - did you shoot the red oxide primer with an airbrush or a spray can?

One of them...I forget which...used pointed and the other used rounded lapels (SS and Wehrmacht) that is.
