It's been fun following this. I would love to have a Panther in that scale. A Panther with a paintball gun for the main gun like you are doing, and Airsoft full auto guns in the bow and in the mantle. Oh, the trouble I could get into with a toy like that.

Hey Paco, I think the Armortek Panther G in Philly is still for sale, just about 4K.

I thought about doing something with airsoft but in 1/6 scale airsoft BBs are 36mm and I didn't think I could pass that off in an MG34 or 42. If I ever do a Panzer II I might try something there. I think that tank was at one point armed with a 37mm cannon and that would be close enough for airsoft, eh?

But speaking of full auto airsoft, I saw a video where a guy put a fully automatic airsoft gun on an RC plane and Man, was that cool.

Looking good Gary, thanks for taking the time for the vids and commentary! You think gravity will work on the paintball feeder? Just by seeing where the chamber is, not much drop room from fighting compartment roof to chamber? Assuming hopper will be mounted to compartment top? Of course camera perspective could be messing with me too though.

The paintballs seem to roll through the tube very easily and I'm hoping gravity will be all I need, but if it's not I have a spring follower I can use.

Here's another update. Having a problem sourcing fittings to fit the paintball gun so it probably won't be this weekend for the test firing, but should be soon.

Got a bench test on the upper hull functions. I have to install a stronger servo and get the mantlet squared away and maybe tomorrow I can take Herbert for a spin.

OK Gary, the pipe fittings on the roof of the upper hull are for a tripod mounted hoist that was used to change engines, cannons, and other heavy stuff when needed. These were fitted to just about all of the German tanks. The hoists were carried on the Bergpanzers that provided maintenance in the field. The wire cutters were carried to cut off barbed wire that could get wrapped in the tracks and disable the tank.

Thanks Herman, I guess I'll just leave them as they are then.

But one thing I couldn't leave as it was is the traverse, so I installed the big servo. Makes for a tighter squeeze putting the top on, but I knew great care would be needed there anyway. Now I'm placing bets with myself how long it will take me to slip up and break something putting the top on.

The $4k is the part I'm missing. Last time I had $4k all together a blonde smiled at me and...

That Hetzer is looking cool. The sound is great and the way it moves is so much better than the smaller tanks. Size does matter.

Paco, if I had a tankland like yours I'd be trying to go 1:1 scale.

Here's a fine example of "I'd rather have an ounce of luck than a pound of skill any day of the week". The smoker on this thing fell together with ridiculous ease.

Tempting. Send me the figures and I'll see how they look and let ya know. I kinda like the turtle.

Ya, don't think I'd deface such a nice build with novel stuff either.

So now I really am tempted, Bret. When I do the paint I'll first shoot the dunkelgelb so if I could get the markings in something easily removable I could apply them after the dunkelgelb, take some photos, remove the markings and finish the paint. Or is that totally crazy?

Here's the first test of the FPV camera

Maybe you could get some vinyls printed up if you have a banner store near you. You wouldn't want any adhesive backing on them so you could spritz the tanks with a bit of water to get the vinyl to stick then peel it off when your done.

Had an idea and changed the mounting location for the laser pointer. Still not sure about the camera, I'll test the paintball and then decide where to mount it. Maybe the driver's view port or maybe still under the barrel.

I could probably just print them from online and tack them in place with white glue or something. It will be mainly a joke photo so I can take liberties.

mission accomplished

I can size them any way I want and I could even print them on decal paper and just soak them off after the photos, but I still like the idea of just printing them on white paper and tacking them in place for the photos.

I even took a quick look for one or two of the figures but the first 1/6 scale figure I saw on ebay was $265 so that ended real quick. I'll only go so far for a novelty, can ya dig it?
