Back for more! T34/76 1941
Hey everyone,
Been a while since I posted. I did a few builds here on the forums several years ago, and now I'm dipping my toes back in with a new project - a T-34/76 1941 with the early version cast turret.
I learned a ton from my first two major conversions - the Cromwell Build and the Crusader III Build l and now I'm just easing back in with a nice, little project for fun. I had an old WSN t34/85 hull (really simple, with no sound, lights, etc) and an early T34 turret from the Trumpeter kit (where I got the wheels for the Crusader). Not going to be a battling tank, just something a little unusual that will run around and look cool.
Next project after this will be a Comet tank, scratchbuilt off of a Heng Long T34/85, so stay tuned for that later this summer. As for the T34, here's where we are so far. Here's the Trumpeter kit....
And here's the Trumpeter turret married up to the WSN hull. As you can see, I'm eliminating most of the exterior detail - no handles, cylindrical gas tanks, etc... it'll just be tow ropes and the old square gas tanks on the back fenders. Note at least two derelict T-34 hulls and a T-34/85 turret in the background. Also have the rounded front fenders from the earlier version replaced. Won't run terribly well, but it'll be nice to see one of these earlier versions on the move, if only on the carpet.
I'll post more pics when I get 'er into paint.

Nice! Always wanted to backdate one of the two I own to a 76. Will be watching your build along with the Comet.

Excellent! Gotta say the earliest T-34's are the coolest looking in my books. I still have the dusty old 1/76 Fujimi T-34/76 I built as a teen in my office drawer.
When a conference call gets boring, there's nothing like muting the phone, opening the desk drawer, pulling out the T-34, and making vrooooom sounds!
Mike.

Got some paint on her, and it's looking like a T34/76! For paint, I used a 50/50 mix of Tamiya Khaki Drab and Tamiya Olive Green - looks way nicer than the green that WSN used to coat the original T34/85. Thinned it with Testors Universal, and it sprayed like a dream. Really like the stripped-down vibe of this machine.
Next steps are marking and weathering... thinking about giving this a heavy coat of dust on the bottom half, but not 100% sure yet.
Comments welcome!

Just giving her a little under-shadow before I add markings, washes and weathering....
First picture is the undercoated black, second and third shots are after I knocked that back with a mist of the main base colour. Looking a little more scale now....

Well, not bad! Especially turret and upper cover + painting is good, BUT (!)... main road wheels!
T-34/76 had used absolutely another set of the wheels... Especially if you put the back-box fuel tanks.
According to you turret and main gun it looks like you are trying to make "the Lady" from Factory #112. And "SHE" had absolutely different "shoes". Check this:

Again nothing against but... such T-34/76 with such fuel tanks and these type of road wheels - not accurate. IMHO.

Could be a post war restoration of a tank... I think it looks good. You've gotten much farther on yours than I have on mine lately.
