Default Colorscheme king tiger

Hello
I have a question about the colors of the king tiger.

I have bought a German king tiger in German Grey and now I wondering was the king tiger in German Grey?

Greetings
Vincent

To the best of my knowledge, no. All KT's that I've ever seen had base dunkle gelb, yellow. However, the only absolute is there are no absolutes. The image is of two of the earliest Porsche turret KT's. Looks like dunkle gelb is the base and over zimmerit, but of particular interest is the exhaust on the nearest unit. It's clearly Tiger E, not Tiger B, aka King Tiger.

Early 1943 there was an order to change all heavy vehicles from dunkelgrau RAL7021 to dunkelgelb RAL7028 some say that this was done specifically for Kursk but this is not the case the order was made in March 1943, obviously this takes time to filter through to all units and also paint a large number of heavy vehicles, early model Tigers were initially painted in dunkelgrau RAL7021 then converted across to dunkelgelb RAL7028, all Panther and Tiger II (King Tiger) were painted in dunkelgelb RAL7028 at first camouflage was added in the field later they were factory painted including the camouflage, at no point was any Tiger II painted in dunkelgrau RAL7021 its said that olivegrün RAL6003 was used as a base colour for a short while but no clear evidence exists.

dunkelgelb RAL7028 changed shades several times during the war then there were different slight variations depending on what was used tho thin the paint paste.
