Default 3DP 1/16 Mark IV Coming

More 3DP WW1 subjects in the pipeline with news of a 1/16 Mark IV underway. No firm date yet on release but expect it will be available before Hooben's slated for June. Will an A7V, Whippet or St Chamond be far behind?

Not sure that's 1/16th if half a metre long, sounds more like 1/6th?

No, that'll be dead-on given the actual tank was 8.05m long.

I'll upsize to 1/10 to run alongside the FT-17 I've just started which translates to 805mm. Think I'll hold off on the 1/6 version even though I plan to start on Minialnd's FT-17 once the Lubos model is done.

Some more progress on the Mark IV with ongoing work on suspension & track. Was told the drivetrain is finished; will use 8 to 1 reduction with a 200:1 internal transmission using two 370 motors. Will be nice and slow like it should be.

Yep, you're right, measured my Centurion - 32 ft in real, 600mm odd in 1/16th.

Progress looks good

A few photos posted today on FB with news that the design will be finished soon & files ready once he finishes the build & makes a video. Was told he'll offer both Mark IV & V files in the release.

Gearbox is complete & much smoother than he anticipated.

Default Electronics Update

Update with electronics installed. Currently a WIP but I do like Dylan's thinking. Name: icon_cool.gif

I’m currently working on a code as a little bonus feature that will be included in the tank, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get it to work though. I’m going to use an Arduino and the Arduino can control the main guns as sort of an automatic gun control so you don’t have to move them, but if you want to switch to manual control you can just flip a switch and control them yourself.

Clark board should work as well, but I’m going with a more simple approach. That red board in the back is the motor controller, it’s just a L298N driver which can control two motors at the same time. Then I’ll use the Arduino uno R3 which can be bought for about $15 for the individual gun movements, both elevation & traverse. The board will move the guns randomly to sort of make it more realistic. For sound I’ll probably use a topacc micro.
