The Hellfire is the best $600 I have ever spent. I comes with a great motor. It will go 40 MPH with the stock 13 tooth clutchbell. You can change any of the suspension for any kind of track. You can also set it up high or stumps and rocks. My hellfire will go over rocks that my revo won't! I love the Hellfire.

Can anybody give me a good set up to make this thing steer more? It is a plush ride but it has severe push one entry thru mid turn.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

My general recommendation is:

more vertical front shocks, front springs on the hard side, decently strong sway bar and toe out. Servo and steering travel is useless when the front axis setup allows for too much understeer.

I am not an experienced racer and don't own a Hellfire.
But this worked for me and my car. Your results may vary, but the laws of physics saty the same. Diff and shock oil setup can makl all the difference though and these vary greatly from car to car.

Eno78 this may help:

owe ya put a jr 9000t servo up front ya 320 oz @ .15
and a 9000s for a throtle servo owe ya 128 oz @.06

http://www.jrradios.com/Products/Def...dID=JRPSZ9000T
http://www.jrradios.com/Products/Def...dID=JRPSZ9000S

They are $115 each so they ain't cheep but I agree with desdad as far as stregnth and reliability.

Also if you need a transmitter/reciever I have never had a problem with the XS3 Pro.

But why are some of you putting in a .21 engine in place of the stock K4.6? What difference would it make? Speed, acceleration, weight, torque, run time???
I chose the .21 mainly because of fuel mileage, .28s are thirsty pigs, and i think most higher end .21s make enough power for a truggy.

Not only that, but if you plan on racing your hellfire you get in a smaller block engine class.

Just got off the phone with HPI. Their CS is better than i expected from what i've read! They are sending me all new parts for a new front diff (backordered tho) and some replacement screws for the ones i've found out of shape hexes on. They seemed to be very co-operative! I also asked about the purple A-arm rod holder things bending and, they said you really have to "cart-wheel the heck out of it" to get it to happen but they are going to make some 7075 pieces as hop ups. And the only real problem they have heard of is ppl stripping the stock steering servo - so make sure the Servo-saver is not to tight.

So i guess i'm a little happier now that i know i'll be getting a new diff to replace the stripped one but, i still am not thrilled that i have to wait for the back order and, my brand new truck is a little jacked w/o even driving it!

Hey bro... it doesnt end there. You need to go ahead and invest in you the hellfire kit from tonysscrews.com. The are higher tensil strength and do not strip near as easy.

Also to get your screws out. Take a dremel tool and a thin cutt of wheel bit and just cut you a groove in the screws so you can use and flat head screw driver. Trust me you are going to strip the ones in the new diff too. Yes you will more then likely cut in to the ring gear a little , but.. You cant help it. I spent all freggin day when my screw kit came in just changing all the screws. IT IS WORTH IT!!!

Also get you a good set of .5-3mm tools. The cheap soft hex tools will bend and strip before the screw even comes close.

I was wondering is the "O.S. .21 VZ-R Turbo II w/20K Carb" race legal for most .21 races? Or is only the V-Spec?

Eno78 - If it were me, i'd buy a high torque Hitec Servo and, save $60. I put this one in for steering and, the stock steering servo in for throttle and, brake. Works very well for me. I also installed the Spektrum DX3 transmitter and, reciever in.

Hitec makes the titanium gear HS-5955TG, and I have one in my Savage. 333 oz/in at .13 sec. Plus, it's programable.

ALUMINUM WHEELS ON THE HELLFIRE! I just got these hard coated aluminum wheels modified to fit the Hellfire. It sits on Proline 40 series Bowtie tires. I also got aluminum hex adapters for the Hellfire, so you can put any 14mm hex mounted wheels on. They are from New Era Adapters for Traxxas T-Maxx Wheels to HPI Hellfire Axle (4) (HHF450).

what wing and mounts are compatable with the hellfire

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

This place isn't the cheapest, but they have most of the upgrades for the hellfire:

http://www.speedtechnitro.com/ebprod...?catmainid=532

OR, better prices:

http://www.xtremercracing.com/HELLFIRE_5871.cfm

As far as what mount I've heard MUGEN MBX-5 wing mount will fit directly to carbon fiber shock towers or you'll need to drill your own holes in the stock shock towers. I've oredered my hellfire with a v-spec engine so i'm going to sell the stock one when i get it to who ever's interested, plus I don't know if i need a 2mm or 3mm upper deck?

The 2mm is $50 plus $15 for center diff brace where as the 3mm is $110 and comes with a center diff brace. The stock upper deck is 2.5mm so i'm not sure if 2mm would be sufficient with carbon fiber instead of aluminum.

Not from xtreme bro!, Go look at my pictures. The shock towers and top plate are too brittle! DOnt get the CF products untill they have been tested.
Go to www.truggyracers.com and see the reposrts on CF for the hellfire by vertigo performance.

Ok, yeah thanks for that info wmff82. Do you know anything about the 3mm piece? Yeah, that sucks that your xtreme top piece broke. The 3mm piece does look to be thicker around the battery box where yours broke. If you have the shock towers... Have you had any problems with their shock towers, or any signs that their are inferior like the CF top piece?

NM, just spent a while reading all the hellfire posts on Truggyracers.com and saw that the shock towers broke as well. Wow, extreme must have rushed their CF parts out way too quickly with minimal if any testing.

Thanks,

-Ryan

Hey guys, my roommate is a Hellfire guy and we are having an impossible time finding front a arms (he broke one this weekend). Other parts seem to be readily available, what gives??! And we need to get his Hellfire fixed soon because I need to beat him :D
