I am wondering whether firewall is already fuel proofed, it looks slightly shiny. I have not ever had an arf already fuel proofed. Instructions refer to fuel proofing the risk areas such as cowl ring but no mention of firewall. I also consider to fiber glass the joints of the firewall, do you think it is overkill? One last question :-), I have around half inch between carburator velocity stack and firewall. Do you think I should make a large hole to the firewall so that carb can get the air from the fuse? According to the engine instructions, engine may spit out oil, so I am inclined to leave it as it is but at the same time engine is designed so that carb is suppose to slightly in the fuse. Nevertheless, this is not the case for Corsair as there is more than enough distance between prop and the firewall.

Not necessary with the rear carb engines regardless of exhaust position. There is enough room for the intake to breathe.
If a cowl doesnt have sufficient cooling then things change.
Add an opening thru the firewall to draw in cooler air to the carb. You can also see issues with the carb diaphram pump vapor locking so the fix is more cooling or adding a fitting to the pump cover and an air tube thru the firewall. This gives the carb its own air independent of the condition inside the cowl.
From my experience so far with a DLE 55 RA in this Corsair the basic install is just fine.

The one I have on my FG84 fits over the nut. The problem is it came from another plane I had a few years ago that had a G62 for power and I bought it used. I can't find it online anywhere. A friend thinks it came from Tru-Turn and suggested emailing Amanda there and asking if they still have them.

Thanks, I could not find Tru-turn dealer in this side of the ocean so I went for China made 6star spinner. It is slightly wider than the stock spinner and it does overflow from the prop hub but still better than nothing.

I am looking for suggestions to install the cowling. I have a saito fg60 with keleo on and it is impossible to get to the screws in the back. I somehow managed to put the screws on but there is no way I can properly tighten them, so they were out after 10min flight.

I highly suggest you make a new mount and if you like take a look at my solution. After I made the modifications the cowl has never come loose and it's easier to work with.
Im currently working on a new cowl for a Saito FG84 which is just slightly larger in dia than the original. How does the FG60 fit in the stock cowl?

Fg60 fits perfect but now I wished I got the fg57. Would have been easier. I have now removed the ring from the cowl. I intend to glue the ring permanently onto firewall and attach the could around it with some wood blocks. Stock cowl is very soft, I might have to reinforce it.

I was surprised how fast the engine and 24x12 prop get on step when powering up to take off. I suspect the torque of the FG60 might be similar so be ready on rudder.
