I think to get good performance and speed out of the combination you will need a 20 or 21" 3 blade prop with around 14" of pitch maybe even 16.... I have not found that prop to try yet unless you want to spend the money for a Solo. They make great props and I think that you could get a good working solution with that prop because it is adjustable.
Hi Dave,
I come back to you, if you don't mind, for a sugested pitch as I contacted Xoar and they can do a custom prop for me. So, it will be a 3 blade 21". But what pitch do you think I should use, 14 or 15?
Thank you again,
Cristian

Default Bomb pylons

Trying to mount the payload release to bomb pylons I found an issue. The pylons are designed as left and right since the payload release are only left.

Flew the maiden on my corsair Sat. All went well. I am using a DA 60 for power. It is way over powered but I think it will be great. I added two pounds of steel shot to the cowl to balance.
Note to all, add reinforce not to the cowl mounts. I don't know what the adhesive us they used but it is very brittle and the mount cracked apart. I used hysoled to regular mine.
The plane flys well and need very little trim It may need just a bit more nose weight but I added a TBM 3 bladed prop and spinner. It is adjustable to 20x14. It will add nose weight. I will reeval balance next flight.
Think it will be a fun plane just hope it is durable enough

Just ordered mine with all the whistles and yo yos including one of the evolution 7-77 radials. I can not wait to get started on this project..I will be stripping the model, glassing and painting, adding full lights with scale landing light, payload drop ect..it's going to be built for the Advanced class of the US Scale Masters. My goal will be to qualify with it this upcoming year.

i will post my build here for those interested can follow. This will be my first advanced class build and hope to learn a lot and do well with it. I'm sure I will be asking questions along the way as well

I'm completely jealous Cole! I want one of these so bad I can taste it! Gonna have to sell a few things first though. I will definitely be looking forward to seeing your bird and it was great hanging out and flying with you over the weekend.

I'm pretty pumped about it..I did speak with Darrell from Sierra and will be getting his gear for the Corsair as well when available....I am on the list!!

But out first thing is first and I need to get on my documentation...maybe I can get a little help from you Chad? I have a couple of paint schemes in mind but the 3-view needs to be the right one and there are so many different ones!

Thanks for for the support guys! Like I said, I'm very pumped about this new bird and the build.

its always a pleasure getting to fly and hang with you Chad, it was a great time..I need rivets!! Lots and lots of rivets!! Haha

Greeting from Australia. First time ever writing on a forum. I am building the Hangar 9 corsair with a 77 radial. Just wondering if any one had issues with the flaps. They seem to fit but when they are hard up against the trailing edge the gap between the inner and middle flap is on an angle, not parallel . I can get them parallel if I move one side of both flaps away from the trailing edge of the wing leaving a gap at the hinge.
Just wondering if anyone else has come across this, any replies would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Jarrod, can you provide a picture? The flaps align fine, the only issue (for me) is that they need alot of force, even if I used a 13 kg servo. I'm changing now for 2 servo setup.

Thanks for the reply, this is the right wing with the flaps in the up position. You can see the angle between the two flaps. The angle is a larger on the left but as I mentioned if you move them out a bit the angle inproved but leaves a gap at the hinge line. Not a huge gap but thought I would check before glueing.

Jarrod,
It does state in the instruction that it may be necessary to redrill the holes for the hinges to correct alignment. I did it for the same reason that you are seeing

Hi Jarrod,

I have the same gap, and the flaps are working fine. I think is fine since in down position the gap "moves" to the tip of the flaps.

Got the flaps and ailerons glues today. Took best part of the day as the 30min epoxy takes awhile to cure. I managed to eliminate the angle between the flaps when in the up position by moving them away from the trailing edge of the wing. Turned out I would of had to do this anyway to get the throw listed in the manual. Going to go with the two servo setup for the flaps as "Christian2fast4you" suggested. Fair bit of work for one servo.

I decided to use a different setup for gear doors and I choosed some Corona mini digital high voltage servos. Finished only one door.

Advise to all. Reinforce the firewall. I was running up engine after having only two flights without incident and a few other runnup and the firewall pulled right out. the wood is classic chinese ply and the glue is very brittle. I have quite a job ahead to repair and have pretty much destroyed cowl.
Very much concerned on the ability of model to sustain vibration of a 60 sized engine,

Scott

Scott this is very disturbing to hear, especially on a kit costing a grand. I think if this pans out to be a workmanship issue, Horizon/hanger 9 should compensate or perhaps recall all the kits. This is a serious issue considering some guys are putting $1200 motors in them. I have the DA-60 for mine. Horizon needs to step forward on this one or risk losing their ability to charge as much as they do for kits like this. The firewall and adjoining fuse section should be the stoutest part of this ship.

Scott,

I don't know if you did this, but I was going to coat outside/inside of firewall and joints with 30 minute epoxy. The tail wheel joints look suspect too. I was going to coat those tailwheel joints accordingly. Main landing gear mounts looked fairly robust, but did coat with epoxy. Decided to paint my tail gear white:

You think coating with epoxy will actually add a lot of strength?

30 Minute epoxy 2Ton 2500 psi strenghth, maybe. Trying to understand what, if anyting what had been done. I do this with all my planes and it is effective.
