Try this book. There are plenty of close ups. Great book for documentation.

Yes I saw on the other forum you were sorted so I didn't persue it. What is it you need to know? Mine is the Sierra one mounted horizontally, It is controlled by a JR 8511 mounted on the keel at the back of the cockpit through closed loop. I have four strands of 80lb nylon, I found this to be about right just enough streach so as not to strip the servo gears and tought enough for control. It was an expensive lesson.

Mine is hydraulically operated and to get the proper scale effect it should retract off the door circuit not the main gear circuit. (I know it’s a bit anal but you might as well have it right).

Don't know weather you have seen this video, taken at the Baldock large model do.

The model will loop from level flight, only a relatively small one though. I have to admit it is a bit under powered, it weighs over 70lbs!
The wheels are Sierra from Belair kit cutters.

How far have you got with your model? Do you have an LMA inspector assigned?

Mick its been unofficially looked through by an inspector just to make sure its ok & all is well,,its the typical bates kit,,,,,, but ive not yet officially registered it yet,,,,thats the next stage,,,, ive owned this seafury twice now,,, when I sold it I had 22 quarter scale fighters plus a realy nice little century jet fury,so this quarter scale seafury wasnt a priority to get in the air,,,,,im staying simple with this one,,, no folding wings,,, no moki,,, just sliding canopy,,,,,3w 240ccc flat twin,,,,,,pretty basic in comparison to yours,,,,,,, im going to mark it as TF956 which when I was younger use to watch it at all the airshows,,,, I also remember climbing all over the one that was at Southend airport in the old museum, ,, they also had a HE111 outside,,,,post some detail pics of yours if poss,,, cockpit ect,,, ive seen Trevor woods which I think is very nice,,,,seeing as you seem like a true seafury fan I have a video of the R, N, H, F seafurys they operated ,,, its a realy great watch,,,, ive converted it onto dvd if you would like a copy,,,,you can email me [email protected]

hi gents

ive just started to build my jerrybates seafury 1/4 scale and im very keen to do the folding wing mechanism
do any of you know if there are hinges are commercially available for the wings ???

im doing my build in the WU232 114 SCHEME
part of my reason for this scheme is not only the historical history of the airframe but it was also carrier based on the HMS OCEAN
I have also built a kerry sterner dh 100 vampire with the markings LZ551/G which was the very first jet powered aircraft to land and take of
from an aircraft carrier

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

my email is [email protected]

kindest regards
vince

Hi Vince, there isn't a commercial hinge system that I'm aware of. Mine were fabricated by a local engineering company which sadly no longer exists.

I may still have some files which were created in CorelDraw. I'll do a search.

I have, last year fitted a Moki 300 turning a Fiala 36x16 three blade. It has only had one flight with the new setup as a faulty retract battery resulted in a crash landing with the wheels half down, this tore both the outer wing panels off along with some other damage. I have just finished building new wing panels which are nearly ready for glassing. I'm hoping to get it through CAA inspection later this year and fly it next.

If I can be of any assistance with yours, just shout.

I have a 1 : 6.5 scale scratch built DH110 second prototype (WD240) which should go well with your Vampire.

g'day mick

thanks for the reply on this thread , i too am going to use the moki 300 5 cyl
im still wanting to do the folding wings , an old friend in my model club is retired fitter and turner so hes looked at your videos as i have many times
ive also desided to do removable tail planes just for ease to transport it and servicability
ive started to build the tailwheel as the plan shows but seems very very bulky , the unit that sierra sells looks smaller than whats actually needed and they
dont show any diamentions on their site ,, oh well another hurdle
we both seem to think it shouldnt be to hard to knock up ( aussie slang ) but anyway time will tell

this is my vampire you might like to see

many thanks once again i hope to build my seafury as well as yours and the others ive seen on here ,, very very impressivee

best regards
