It is troublesome to have to modify mufflers. Better that you found it now that later.

Last day I drew a spinner. From this 3D model I´ll make a design. The engine has only one central srew, so it was pretty easy job. Now I will wait for the production. I hope I will have it next week.

Spinner is partially done. At the end it is necessary to make a nut up to base of spinner.

That looks great Prekin. You could start a new business offering those.

Dauntless is ready to fly. Last day I balanced it and made a first rolling on the playground. I want to add a scale gunner, but it will be after the maiden flight.

Here is a picture where you can see, how I attached receiver. Between the cockpit and wing is not much space and there are only a few millimeters between the RX and wing.

It depends on the date when I would visit my parents. I have two possibilities. The first is the nearest saturday or sunday and the next is saturday 12nd July.
What about your Hellcat Steve, some progress?

Prekin, please let us know how your maiden goes for you. No progress on the Hellcat, it is flying season now so progress stops. The goal will be to finish it this winter. Thank you for asking.

This weekend is unfortunately very windy weather. So I set the engine´s rpm and weighed the Dauntless. The dry weight is 7715 g and the wing loading is 145 g/ sq.dm.
It is a little bit more than I expected, but the theacher at my university said: "Some door from barn could be a perfect airplane if you use good engine!"

It is better to wait for reasonable conditions for maiden flights, sounds like you made a good decision.
For us that is 17 pounds, not bad at all for a plane of that size.

I hope so Steve, but I still check the wind from my window and I´m looking at the trees.

My determination regarding the trees, if you can see the back of the leaves it is too windy for maiden flights.

My measure "tool" is one birch tree. It is the farest tree in the center of the picture. If the most of the branches are not vertical, it is too windy.

Finally I passed maiden flight. If someone thinking about this ESM Dauntless, I recommend to use JC 28 EVO. With this engine and prop 18/10" it flies very well and realistic.
I made only one flight, because after the landing I was rolling and lost one nut on the gear. But now my Dauntless is ready for the next take-off. I hope tomorrow. Here is a short movie.

Eskiserkan, manual says, the C.G. should be 125 mm from the leading edge. After my experience with ESM Stuka and La-7, I moved it 10- 15 mm before this position. So, now I set it 115 mm from the L.E.

ESM pilots, check your ESM retract before every flying action. During the last landing I lost one wheel on the ESM retract. It went out of the main pin. The impact you can see in the pictures.

Repairing progress. CA glue is a big helper. It is necessary to made a new front parts of the ribs around the retract mounting.
