wait a second... wasn't a J3 Cub called a "birddog" and used as a spotter plane?

I think the "Birddog" was a Cessna L19. The Cub warbird was the L4, maybe called a "Puddlejumper"? But I could be wrong; I was, once, but then I was wrong about that.

what you meant say is "I once though I was wrong, but I was mistaken". LOL.

Sparky, please count me in. I'm the worst flyer in our club, but have always loved the look of the F4U Corsair. Got a Parkzone recently and on the maiden flown by my mentor, it flew great. Me? I took it up for one lap and voila...yarddart. Fortunately it was repairable (TG for epoxy). My mentor piloted it again and it flew great. Now it hangs on the wall and is beautiful to look at. I'll stick to my Sport Cub and Tempo 3-D (flown like a regular aircraft) for now.

The J-3 Grasshopper was the last European Theater US aircraft in a dogfight. http://armedforcesmuseum.com/last-an...fight-of-wwii/

to give you an idea what it's like.. New Years eve I drove the kidz and my wife up to Santa Barbara with my little travel trailer (only 35ft with slideouts) and we stopped in the foothills for a little sledding in the weird snow we had at 2000ft (OMG!)... then we had lunch on the pier in downtown Santa Barbara (steamed crab - yum!), ran around in the surf for an hour then went back to the campsite where we chilled out in the chilly 72degree weather... I actually had to put the heater on new years eve... got back day yesterday... I'm telling you.. cold weather here sucks!
That;s why your the President!

Spark..

From 50 to 90 degs I have never adjusted my DLE 55 in my Mustang. In fact in 6 years other than cleaning the carb and replacing the ignition, I haven't needed to adjust mine.

spectacular, Caption Ron! I love the detail! That G62 is gonna haul it around very nicely!!! who said too much power isn't a good thing?

Everyone.. that's what we do... we take what they give us and we turn it into something we love... whether it's a new sticker or a full blown "ARF bash"... just make it something you're proud of and share it with us!

you, sir, are the man... when you get your needles right that motor will go and go and go... I on the other hand like it 100 or 200 RPM under lean so my 22X10 will keep my Wulf up with the guys running hot G62's and APC 20X15 T6 racing props... (oh wait... it's not a T6... it's a Harvard... I was recently corrected by a fellow who shall remain nameless and Canadian - lol)

Sparky,
Thanks for the nice words of praise. That's also what we strive for is the approval and praise of our peers. The engine is a 70cc Fox 4.2. Same engine as the Brison 4.2.

OH YEAH BABY...............SHE'S GONNA RIP

CAPTAIN RON,

This is my second post however this time I have a TF 1/7 scale P51D to add. Mine is powered by an OS 1.08 2S and weighs close to 11lbs. If you want to talk about "heavy metal" this airframe fits the bill. Took off in 12mph breeze coming from the west and within one pass of the runway the wind aloft picked up to a gale. Since I fly from a dry lake bed the gale force winds had turned it into a dust bowl with visibility less than 300 yards. Normally prior to landing I make a pass over the runway to ensure the landing gear is down and locked. Naturally I shipped this step due to the prevailing conditions. With the plane on final and about one hundred feet away I saw to my horror the right main was up and the left main was down. I had a decision to make pronto, go around or land on one main. I choose the lather and pulled it off with minor damage to the bottom side of the right wing tip.

Flycatch, wow... landing in a dust laden wind storm, braving the elements, literally throwing caution to the wind! Well done, sir! I've got a mental picture of nearby houses being ripped from their foundations... flashing red lights of the emergency vehicles skidding through your flightline... your friends and loved ones yelling you name, calling you to safety... your 6channel Futaba and it's 5foot long antenna waving dangerously in your face... and you standing bravely, shivering, and squinting to see that nearly invisible Warbird dancing in the gale...

You, sir, are a hero to the hobby... as my brethren from down under would say... Good on you, mate!

Okay... back to reality... I'm just wondering if maybe that 1/7 scale "Mustang" would be better suited to a DA100 inline twin spinning a 28X12 Xoar... your mains would have to be a foot longer but come on... that would double the weight of the plane and you'd be able to fly that plane in a wind tunnel... well.. not so much "back to reality"... thanks for sharing Flycatch..

Folks, a nice round of applause to Flycatch for saving that plane!

thought you folks would like to see the "new to me" Meister FW190... that's a new DLE120 spinning a 27X10 prop... no needle adjustments out o the box... 2 flips with choke and 1 flip to start it... wow.. I love me some DLE!
