That looks so nice now I'm jealous. I see you have dubro tires. Are they 5 inch? Who's rims? I bought Ziroli and am not happy. I was hoping I could finish them by removing material between spokes but the are screwed together with a small pipe nipple and the material is needed for the threads. They are inner/ outer halves. I guess I'll have to paint in with dark grey or something.

The wheels are 5" Sierras, they are thinner then the Robarts and a lot cheaper too. I really like them.

I called Sierra this morning for a price, I am thinking I will get some at the Toledo show in April. I like to go and there are a lot of show specials and every body likes to think they got a deal. they are pretty and even though I have the Dubro tires and Ziroli rims I am thinking of shelling out on a pair of these. could you please give me a good measurement of the width Please Tony. I am Chris by the way.......haefeli is just too much typing hahaha

Thanks Tony. I need to call and ask how much rims only. Will try to send Ziroli pics up later for a quick comparison.

Above are the Ziroli rims. Fifty bucks plus shipping. I have decided to order some rotary files to use in my small drill press and mill out spoke openings. They are 1.5 inches wide on the outside. Any body heading to the Toledo show.

Because these rims screw together I will need to take a sharpie and mark each half and screw together to see if spokes line up or not. I am sure I will have to massage the face of the inner hub to make them match so as not to look goofy when I open them up. Tony I like your rims for sure but I need to replace the servo's I originally were to use. They were Cirrus digital 13kg but now I am not sure if I can trust them. They are 12 years old brand new and I am sure outdated all the way around.

The sierras are nice, looks like you have your work cut out, good luck, if this doesn't work out try the Dubro air wheels, that would be my second choice.

Here's my second project of the winter building season. A Top Flite "Tarheel Hal" with selected color changes and additions. G-62 power and a 20x10x4 prop that turns a little over 6k on the ground. Hoping it will unload enough to get 75 to 80 mph out of it coming out of a dive. The tornado figure is being cut out of vinyl and will be placed on the cowl when it arrives.
Looking forward to the test flight once the grass is green again.....

Tony,

Thanks for the kind words. I should have taken a shot of the front. I installed the plastic piece you sent. I painted it zinc chromate green.

I am sick like a dog but I did manage to get the wingtips and the start of the leading edge done. The pictures of the ARF bashing look great. Have you tried a digital fish scale attached to the plane for a pull test. I'd like to know the results. I'd like to use 4 blade prop but Tony says they cavitate too much and everything I have read backs it up. Make sure you know what it pulls before flying and maybe big problems in the air. If it doesn't pull it could tip stall easily. When I first flew my Hanger nine 150 size Mustang the Saito 220 was just terrible for pulling with a 20 x 8 prop at 6200 rpm.

We actually have sunshine with a high of 28 degrees 2 days in a row. We are still not out of the woods for crappy weather. Typically cant turn the heat off till mid May for a typical year. Last year we had a short summer.

A guy had a big P-47 with a four blade prop at Warbirds Over Iowa. It had a big Brison engine...4.5 cu in I believe with a direct drive four blade prop. It flew OK. Not overpowered by any means but sure looked nice.
