Mine is kit built with all the scale goodies at 35lbs. It would not not balance at 5 1/4 at rib 5 so I moved it back to 5 1/2 and it balanced almost perfect. It was done inverted with the gear up. I had my maiden and it flew just fine. I may still add 4oz of lead in the front of cowl as it felt just a touch aft of neutral. Im suprised there is so much debate an a plane that has been in production forever.

35 pounds eh, I'm at 31 before the balance. I thought I was heavy but you say yours flies well. What engine and prop do you use. This question arose because the arc is much different than the kit. t 5 1/4 it just looks too fR forward.

Min is electric. I have the Eflite Power 360 with 4 5900mah 6s packs setup for 11800mah 12s. Prop is a Xoar 24x14. It swings about a 1000rpm faster than the same on a G62. I also remember when I was considering going with a gas setup using a G62 would have been about 4lbs lighter than the electric.

If I move balance point back to where yours is at I don't need but maybe a pound. How did you balance hours. My problem is I don't have any help and doing the Vanessa rig which I've never done before so I don't really trust it.

Well this is a great explanation. By the cg dimension this is for the arc correct?

If you used 6 1/2 back at fuselage sides this is different location fore aft than what kit instructions recommend. Did Tony turn you on to this number? I'm just curious as to how you came up with this number versus what the kit says and then being comfortable to fly it the first time. If I use this number I balance fine, going by the kit numbers I need huge nose weight.

When I first flew the plane I had the CG at 5.5". The plane flew very nose heavy and wanted to fall on it's nose while on the ground. I moved the CG back and now everything is better.

Thats weird as mine was no where near what I would consider nose heavy at 5.5".

This all kinda scared me. The same plane should balance in basically the same spot no matter it's final weight. I still don't understand the tech guys answer about the arf being different internally so it balances in a different location. My friends arc looks identical to mine. I need to measure his tail feathers, only think I can think of is they are a different size.

Great looking field. Is it asphalt or some type of fabric? What club is it? I travel a lot and love to stop at different R/C Fields just to see what others have. Some one should start a Thread where people post Pic's of there fields.

Can anyone please tell me where the 5th rib is from the center joint of the wing on the Top Flight P-47. Also are the Ribs in the same position from the center Joint of the ARF / ARC / Kit wings. Thanks
OH almost forgot what is the name of the rope contraption used to balance planes & is there a video on U-Tube that demonstrates it's use?

Just Google this ( rc plane cg calculator ) There are a million ways to determine the CG of any wing/airplane

Aircraft Center of Gravity Calculator

Just to add some complexity to the mix

The CG Calculator.

Ok, Google don rice Vanessa rig. He hangs a 47 and does a nice job explaining himself. Go buy clothesline thick cotton clothesline and some foam insulation funding and 2 bucks for 3/4 dia. Dowel and some flat wood. 1/2 x 3 x 12 inches is all you need

Thanks to everybody whit the cg question.Today i went to my local airfield to make some test before maiden.
taxi was vey succesfully .drive the plane pn the ground is very easy.I set too the engine.I change the first propeller 24x12 by 24x8.whit this i have 6200 RPM on the ground and a static thrust of an awesome 11.5 kg of traction.More than enought to put the plane in the air safely.

The trees to the East and South east give U guys any problems? Looks like U have good neighbors just behind U. Sorta short for GS Looks like U have to land on the numbers and not half way down the runway. Good lookin facility. Thanks.
