Warbirds Over the Rockies - 2015
Warbird fanatics, it's almost here! The 2015 edition of "Warbirds Over the Rockies" will be held September 11-13, 2015 at the Arvada Associated Modeler Airpark in the beautiful foothill of Golden, Colorado. As usual the Omeara's have a great weekend planned with daily air shows (including full scale fly-overs and pyrotechnics), extra tent space and (cross your fingers) perfect weather.

the weather looks like it will be perfect for Warbirds Over The Rockies. The Arvada Associated Modelers have made their field spectacular. We are all set for full size flyovers of a P-51, T-33, T-28 Provost jet and a few more. The pyro show will be better than ever. Come bring sunshine to fly. Mass foamy launch each day. Six flightiness. Banquet at the Wings Air and Space Museum. About $10,000 worth of quality stuff will be auctioned at the banquet. Most at about half street price.

Things are shaping up to make this a GREAT event! Lots of pilots signing up...
There is going to be 12 flyers from Las Vegas alone. A commanding presence if I do say so myself...

WOTR was a great event and a huge success! Huge crowds and nearly perfect weather all 3 days (sunny, warm and mild winds). Sunday was a bit breezy, but manageable. The pilots put on first rate air shows all 3 days with fantastic flying, pyrotechnics, and full scale fly-over's. If you didn't attend, shame on you... and if you did, thanks for coming. We hope to see even more of you again next year.
As always our club photographer (Lee Jay) took amazing photos all 3 days which can be viewed here:
http://imageevent.com/sipphoto/aircr...og2rh2.goose_s
All of the photos can be shared and are down-loadable.
The editor of MA was on hand taking photo's and doing interviews, so also look for an article there in the coming months.
Again, I want to thank all of you for coming. I also want to say thanks to the great folks at AAM for their hard work in putting this on. The field and hospitality were first rate!

You have to admit... that is some pretty nifty photography by our club photographer. You guys deserve a lot of the credit for some fancy flying. Thanks for coming and making this a very memorable event.

This was my third time attending WOTR and it was the best yet. The event, staff, show and pilots were nothing less than incredible.. Met a lot of new pilots and really enjoyed myself. I left with a huge smile on my face and can't wait till next year. We traveled from PHX Az in a motorhome pulling our box trailer without any issues and we parked on the grounds right near our set up tent. This made it even better. Being able to stay on site helps make the experience even better for me. Brian throws a great show/Event.... If you have not made it to the WOTR...You should make an effort. You won't be disappointed! Thanks everyone that attended! You made my week! Photo's are great...Awesome job Lee Jay!

Guys,
Thanks for the positive feedback. We worked very hard to make numerous changes from 2014 to 2015 to improved both the pilot and spectator experience. As you all know, the show is a big part of this event and Brian was great about making such changes. He's an extremely "hands-on" event director and deserves a lot of credit.
We would also appreciate any constructive comments to improve for 2016. We know that after only 2 years (at Arvada), there is still room for improvement. For instance, I know we could have done a better job mowing the camping/parking area and are addressing that for next year. Let us know what you think either way, but however you feel, please come back next year!

Thanks Rick if it wasn't for an air leak that set off Dougs failsafe we would have had both of us flying with Joe's A10.
Flying formation with Doug is a blast. once I learned how he turns his corners we were glued together. He is barking orders at me the entire flight and I do what he says. if we lived near each other we could really perfect the flight.
Can't wait until Winter Warbirds in January to do it again.
One last thing. I was honored that Brian asked me to fly his scratch built 110" Spifire for a quick photo shoot. The plane is a master piece. Built by Jim Hammond and painted by Scott Raines.

An amazing airplane, scratch built by Jim Hammond over eight years . 110 inch wing span , inline 3W 110 engine. This plane belongs in a museum. The cockpit is a work of art. Tony Quist put on a wonderful photo flight at Warbirds Over The Rockies. The plane won CRITICS CHOICE, STATIC. First pix with Jim Hammond, the builder, Tony Quist the pilot and myself. Second picture is David Platt himself admiring the plane.
