Well we have beet the BARF's good So will make another comment, About 20 years back we had a club member that started building don't remember what (learned to fly using a duro-bat thingy) anyway could not get any thing stright all most cave up but at a club meeting he ask some ?'s got a bunch of ansures , so after a coupla of us wood butchers stopped over to his house a few times he got it done and over the years has become a vary good builder, even to the point of cutting his own kit, during this time he has had a number of arf's but does not have the pride or respect for those as he does for his builds, So the point is at least for me is to see some one willing to take the time and try a build and learn a lot of little things along the way, and at the end of the build say gee that realy was fun, but a pita to and glad i did it.
Now my next Build will be a 1/4 scale cub bashed to a PA-18 supper cub and at this time I don't think I will do mutch of an interior.
With luck our flying season may start by mid April if the ground ferns up enough to get to the field.
cheers and have fun Bob T

Finally got the damn flaps working and working nicely although I find the hitec 645 mg to be very noisy.
These are new servos is anyone else experiencing this ?

Hi George
Yes. but if you put one of those little meters between the servo you will see they do not over draw your batteries you can also put it in between the bat and the reciver to check total draw,
Got mine from hanger 9 called a "Servo current meter" think it was about 20$$ but I have had mine for a while.
Goog luck

Hey RT
the meter measures the draw on the battery correct? If that's true then what does the draw on the battery have to do with noise from a servo?
I am a little confused on this.

I'm thinking he's saying to check and make sure nothing's binding and overdrawing the servo thus making it noisy. Mine are noisy as well George. Great servos, just not the smoothest, or should I say quietest.

Ok Guys
I had burnt out 2 futaba servos moters when I built my bird on the flaps no crowlling/humming, and was not sure if they were binding (they felt good when moved by hand) or it was a set up error so one of my buddies suggested this meter, changed out the servo's to 645mg's and they were noisey just on the bench, so after installing them with out changing the push rodor set up, did the meter thingy in line and found in the up position they were just tight enough to put a load on the moters = hi current draw ment hot moters. After cycling them individualy right side was still drawing more current, made the up position a little sloppy and decreesed the down position a bit, also found 1 hinge center flap was off a bit. Fixed that and the draw on both sides was the same and have never had any more problems Still can't find the numbers I logged.
Hope this helps

I know you have been a long lived patriarch of this thread and I thought I'd try and help keep it going. Not only have I read through this thread pg by pg but I did Peter_Oz's P-47 also. Outstanding information in each and I have each plane. So I'm posting a few pics of a builder's plane from a while back who passed. If you will remember NCIS "Barry". I happened upon his plane third hand on Saturday last week and am going to try and finish and resurrect his past build. I will not be taking it to the F4U 5 stage he wanted but will finish it in a WW II scheme. I'm torn between two unique ones and I am going to wait an unveil that later. I don't believe the fuse has been touched since his passing in 2010 but I did have to take to some serious sanding to just let this plane sit in the house. Barry chose to plank his plane. I really wish he hadn't. . More work to make right IMHO. But i did put a few hours into the fuse the day I got it home. After reading the Peter_OZ thread I know you like pics.

Hope to see more pic's and maybe even come down and see the beast would make a good sat outing.

Bob,
I have the Top Flight Giant Scale the 1/5.75 that Barry was working on so this would be the smaller of the two. Most everything is here to complete the build. With some extra goodies I may sell off. It looks like I have two Fiberglass Specialties Cowls and 3 canopy's. Two look like Top Flight and the other may be a Byron. All in all everything I think a guy needs. Bob you'll have to be patient I am not a quick builder. Please come down and enjoy the field. The NAMFI Warbirds Aug 8-10 event is always a good time. Here is the website information if you want to check us out. http://smmac.com/Welcome.html
Scott,
I hope Toledo was fun. I think you are correct on Jeff Q. having the large F4U that was the rumor as I heard it.

I do have a question so to speak. I was looking over all of the inherited bits and pieces and it looks like the person who sheeted the wing may not have done the shear webs. I know this wing builds pretty sturdy I'm curious of other's thoughts on if it is necessary to tear in the wing? I personally am not that comfortable with them not being applied.

My old manual does not show eny shear web in the tip panal, But as I recal I did put one in the first panal out board of the splice. I you have any conserns I would just add a 1/4 X .005 C/F from the wheel well cut out to T-3, that would allways be in tension and just glass over it.
Hope this helps

Hello all Corsair owners
I have not been so active for a couple of yeras, the reason is that my son has been motorcycle racing.
But after a real bad crasch I must come back too rc and fly again.
All my planens and radiois still in the house.
A new Corsair is bought afcourse. TF giant scale both the kit and one arf both with Evolution 77cc radialengines.
My corsair brotherhood I think was 37 if it still is active, if not I hope a new membership is possible.
Best regards
Nenne

Marty don't feel alone about computers, as when I was in working in industry as a mfg engineer building computers never had to us one, then when I retired the first time I had to learn to use one and have disliked them ever sence. Ther is an old saying hear, any one 20 years yunger that you, you get to call them a wipper snapper (it is in good fun) so you at 60 are a wipper snapper (hehe)
anyway as my operating system is no longer being supported I am in the process of getting ready to up grade, and it is driving me nuts.
Please on your build, if you have a question just ask and you will get good ansures. Do Post pic's as they help with learning and ansures.
Cheers Bob T
