RE: Ultra RC 92" Scale-Masters Zero
Brian, can you say anything about upcoming models yet? I like P-51's, Spits, Hawkers, etc. I would like to see some options other than the Zirolis, TF's and Yellow. Of course, those are all fine planes, just looking for options. Thanks so much for your time. OH, the Zero is really sharp too. I hadnt considered one until I saw yours.

RE: Ultra RC 92" Scale-Masters Zero
that is a cool plane. I dont like zeros but that sure is a neat plane.
GSP advertised a giant Corsair for a while but it went away..... are you folks gonna have that one? It sure looked nice. 100" span or so if memory serves me.
anyway, cool plane I hope it works out for you guys.
I want a 90+ incher.

Type 52 Zeros are mostly green. After 1943 its hard to find documentation of a none green Zero. You would be looking for the early type 21 or type 32, neither are kitted.

I am a Zero nut, and this one really caught my eyes. I have a 71" CMP Zero, and it looks like the larger brother is made of the same high quality construction that my 71" Zero is.
First of all, are you going to the Toledo show with this model? If so, I would be really interested in checking it out. And if there is show special promotion, I might just have to bring more cash...
I have 2 specific questions about the design:
1) Can the cowl accommodate multi-cylinder 4-strokes like the Magnum 5-cylinder 400 or the Saito tri-radial 450? These weigh about 90 oz to 95 oz, are they about right for CG balance?
2) What is landing gear support design like? This is the one area I gripe about my smaller 71" CMP Zero. I had to completely rebuild the support spars, which took me more time than building the rest of the plane. I would like to know if this larger one has more robust design that will withstand more than 1 bad landing.

The orange Zero in the pic is a two seat trainer. All the pictures I have seen of it had the canopy in front open. I'm not sure that they even had the ability to close the front. I'm currently building a Yellow Zero that will be green.

Nice, but they are all model 21 or Rufe schemes, not Model 52. So far as I know, if you want to be accurate, it's going to be green/grey.
Just checked on the progress of the box with UPS. It's on a truck outbound from Chicago. Scheduled to be in Boise next Wednesday. Now I'm starting to accumulate the bit's I'll need to finish it:
Robart retracts: Mains and air kit on way from Ziroli. Already have a tail unit on hand.
Servos: JR 125 for Ailerons, flaps, elevator, rudder. LHS should have the remaining ones I need in stock by next week.
Receiver: Futaba PCM: Tower hobbies
Engine: G62 with torquemaster drive: on hand
Propeller: Solo prop 3 blade unit 24 or 28" blades to be used depending on performance: on hand
Cockpit kit: Dynamic balsa
Pilot: Officer and Gentlemen Japaneese pilot: hppilots
My plan is to initially build this pretty much straight out of the box, aside from the Dynamic balsa cockpit. Over next winter my plan at this point is to strip the sloartex off the wing and stabs and glass and paint. Probably re-paint the fuse at the same time.
Expect 3-4 week assembly time.
Stay tuned.

Well I just ordered this Zero and will be using a RcIgnition G-62 in her.Scalebirdman where did you get the dynamic balsa cockpit kit.Would like to see one.I have the tail wheel retract here,Looked at the Robart site for the 154 mains, did you get a better price from Ziroli? The are 380.00 from Robart. What size wheels do we need for this setup.Sorry for all the questions just excited to do this up right.Look foward to your build review.

Edgeman: Dynamic balsa website: dbalsa.com. They have some pix of the completed cockpit. I though I was going to get a lower price for the gear based on Ziroli's web site prices, but they haddn't gotten around to updating, and in the end they charge what robart lists. I beleive the wheels will be 5", but the units will allow up to a 6" wheel. I'm waiting for the box to arrive to see what they say. ( it's on a truck outbound from Denver as of this morning) I have a pair of Dubro 5" wheels off my Mustang since I swapped them for the Aerotech wheels, however I've also been taking to Dennis at Glennis Aircraft about wheels for this bird($$$). I'll probably make a final decision on the wheels after I get it flown.
