TF FW-190 Cowl
After reading the construction article on the TF FW-190, I pulled mine out to build. I was disappointed with the plastic parts in the kit especially the cowl. Those of you building the Pica 190, how is the cowl profile? Is it any more scale than the TF? I have never worked with fiberglass before so laying up my own is probably not an option. I am thinking I can buy a Pica cowl since they are the same scale.

CHAP,
Look up the guy named wulfman on here. It is his article that you have read and he sells the parts on his web site. I plan on going through him when I get to mine. Only a TF P51 to go and then the TF 190. His web site is = http://home.att.net/~mr.442guy/Wulfpage_01/Page_1x.html
Hope this helps plus lots of Axis aircraft pics.

Pica cowl
Chap,
The Pica cowl won't fit, it is too small in diameter. If it would have fit, I would have used it instead of making my own.
The "scale" size of the Pica and the Top Flite may be stated as the same, but the two kits have alot of dimensional differences.
I've built both kits, and I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about them.
T-Bolt P47, thanks for the referal.

cowl pic
This is a pic of my cowl after sanding and removal of the material between the cooling flaps. The cowl, requires some sanding and prep before installation.
The holes in the front of the cowl are the cooling inlet for the engine and the access holes for the mounting screws, and of course, the prop shaft hole. There are no front openings cut into the cowl, you have to do that yourself.

TF FW Cowl
Thunderbolt thanks for your help. I guess I missed the section where the cowl was available.
Wulfman you built one beautiful FW. The only aircraft I like better is another FW that is the TA. As I get closer I will be ordering the cowl and the gun cover. Thanks for the great article.

TF FW-190 Cowl
I've bought the stuff from Wulfman and his is the only stuff worth getting. It's good quality and true to scale outline. Top Flite should work a deal with him to replace the junk in their kits with the good quality accessories he offers.
