Default Albatros Kit Identification

I picked up this project at the Southeastern Model Show in Perry, Ga. today. I think it is a FunAero R/C DII kit, the specs fit. 60" wings, 90 four stroke engine mount in the plane...

Any other company kit a plane like this? If it is a FunAero what's the poop...the good, bad, and the ugly?

Thanks!

Looks almost like the Funaero, but the leading edge of the wing does not have the many ribs that Funaero uses. The struts also look a bit different on yours. I have a Funaero DIII, but the only difference between the DII and DIII that I know of is in the wing tips and the thinner lower wing. It flies fine with a YS 1.10 on it. It is about 1:6 scale, so I'd say your pilots head is way too big.

Yup, he's a big boy...

I pulled the covering off. It looks like there are some construction differences in the tail from the pictures on the FunAero website too. I got in touch with FunAreo and their sending me a set of plans. So I'll see if whoever built it just got "creative" or if it's some other kit or plans.

Your plane looks great. I'm sure my rebuild won't look that good but it will be fun to have something different at the field.

Looks like the FunAero kit with some modifications from the builder. With some care and attention to scale modeling, you can make that DII looks very realistic. I agree with Todd, the pilot has to go. DP

Just to give this thread closure. It is a FunAero kit. I got the plans from them today. It looks like whoever built it simplified the construction (especially the wings) and reinforced a bunch of spots.

The plans are very nice. I might have to get one of their other kits.
