Yes as you say Ompa the inzpan is very nice but expensive. Here's a shot of my DB cockpit with a lot of mods added. Sorry, but too lazy to remove canopy.

Can you provide pics of what is different that you know of?

Is this model still available with composite wings?

If you have the build up wings, can you take some pictures to show the detail?

Thanks

Hey,According to Andrew at KMP,there are none available with the composite wing! I ordered the FW-190 from Tomas @ VQ warbirds with the built up wing, should arrive on Wednesday! Tomas indicated it was the last one he had! Great price too! Thanks Tomas!!!

Hello,

I'm still having trouble with my gear (KMP) and the speed it cycles. I have received the robart 167 VR (two of them). I tried both. The retract speed up is adjustable and looks great. The gear comming down is a completely different story. If I close the valve it takes along time for the gear to release and then it just falls/bangs out. If I close it any further, nothing happens. If I open it, it will still fall out it just does not take as long. No difference in speed. It seems after the gear releases it just falls out no matter how I adjust the valve. Does anyone have any clue what I'm doing wrong?

thanks

Stefan

I think I have found the culprit, just need a way of fixing it. When the gear is up, and I cycle it down, the air bleeds off as supposed to. It just takes to long to release. at this time all the air that would "brake" the gear is gone and it just falls out. IF I don't let the gear go all the way up and and reverse directions, it goes back down nice and slow. It seems the gear seems to be sticking somewhat in the up position......

I had the same problem with my P-51 and my mates YT/ESM/KMP 80" hurri as well.

The way to fix it is a pair of robart restrictors. Install them as close as you can to the "up" air line connections at each retract cylinder. What this does is as the valve is selected into the down position, the restrictors limit the speed at which the air leaving the cylinder can escape at. This "cushions" the gear as it comes down with the increaseing air pressure on the down line finally locking the gear in place. My mates hurri uses the Robart adjustable retract valve and a pair of restrictors and they work a treat, not perfect, but a whole heap better.

Just make sure you install them as close as practical to the cylinders.

Thanks

dave

Attempting to balance my fw190 but am a little confused. My 190 is the all composite fuse and wing. The manual says to balance the plane at 100mm. Now from what I have read on this thread, many 190's are being balanced at 130 - 140mm. Can the all composite 190 be balanced at 130 - 140mm. I ask because their is such a large difference between what they have been balanced at and what the manual says.

Also, where does the 130-140mm mark end up when looking at the top of the wing. If you look at the fuselage, you have three exhaust ports (or whatever they are) protruding out just behind the cowling. Which exhaust port does the 130-140mm mark fall under. The front, middle, or rear exhaust port.

Thank you in advance.

Hi TwinturboZ,

I fly my electrically-powered FW190 with the CG close to 140mm aft of the leading edge (see some pictures and movies in earlier pages of this thread) and it handles fine at this CG.

The "exhaust stacks" are representations of the cooling gills on the real aircraft - they could be closed flush into the fuselage or opened up to get more cooling air through the real engine.

With the CG at 140 mm aft of the wing leading edge, this makes the balance point pretty close to the rear of the most rearward set of cooling gills.

Hope this helps,

Al

Hi Airfix,

Thank you very much for the information and quick response. I will go ahead and balance it that way and make it slightly nose heavy. Thank you again.

In my fw-190 box there is a letter titled "Fw-190 Amendment", it says that they recommend a CG of 140mm - 145mm
This is the new fw-190 with the built up wings and tail btw.
not sure if that helps, as its not the composite one?

I use a "Great planes" CG machine to balance

Hmmm, now i start to get confused. In my manual it says 130mm measured from the center line of the wing. It close to the middle cooling gill. I have the all composite one and did a "pre" CG balancing on it last week and almost got chocked when it comes to nearly 1000gr of lead in the noose
I wonder how the flight preformans will be if i move the CG to 140mm, and probably i also can loose some of that huge extra balance weight i have to use.

I had hoped for the maiden tomorrow but now I'm down for counting in fever. Did catch some bad infection at the end of last week and has being "out of order" more or less since then. Nothing that was planed this past week has been done, i truly hope that i can get the balancing done tomorrow and I gonna do some testing whit CG at 140mm.

Hi,

My electric FW190 flies fine with the CG 140 mm aft of the leading edge of the wing.

Here are some shots of it after weathering awaiting its next mission.

Mine had its Miaden today, flew great with a CG of 140mm
had to add a bit of lead upfront, but mainly because the cowl was off, due to waiting for a manifold knuckle for my OS200, so that I can put the exhuast in a different position

can't wait to get it, will loook so much better with the cowl on, but couldn't wait till then to fly it lol

may have some pictures to follow as club member took some and siad she would email me them

With what paint did you guys paint the skyshark spinners? anything that will stick good to the aluminum and can be taped off to get the swirl done without the paint peeling off?

Anyone have any experience flying this focke with an rcgf 26cc?

emery the spinner, to key the paint, paint with etch primer first, and you should have no trouble, for the swirls, pencil them on, and fill in by hand, not to hard to do,

At first i used etch primer on the aluminum spinner. Then i use white and flat black Humbrol color. When the paint cured i put on a couple of layer whit Warbird color satin clear-cote.

Simon, your FW190 looks great [sm=teeth_smile.gif] [sm=tongue_smile.gif]
I haven't been able to maiden my Wulf yet due to an infection i got over a week ago. Still eating antibiotics and had to visit the ER yesterday again. Really hope it's my time to maiden this coming weekend.

Did my first cg check today, with the rcgf 26 installed i will have to put the receiver and egnition battery on top of the standoffs and then add 100g of lead with I will epoxy into the front of the cowl..... endign up with a cg at 135 -140mm. Ready to fly weight with 550ml of fuel (16 oz) will 15.4 lbs. Due to CG and weight issues I decided to hold off with the cockpit installation until she flies. I just hope the 26 cc is going to be enough swinging either a 16 x 10 or 17x 8.

Hello to all, I just got my fw190 a few days ago and was hoping for some guidance from you guys from time to time. I have the latest version with the built up wing. This will be my most complex build so far so I am a little aprehensive about my builing skills. So,can someone please tell me how to install the plastic wheel wells? Or, do I really need to? I am planning on using the saito 170r3,so there is going to be some mess from the glow fuel. I also plan to use sierra gear.By the way,I have never installed air up/down retracts either. As all of you know the directions that come with this model are....... What?......But,how doI?........Well,how am I supposed to?.......... To me, they leave a LOT of unanswered questions. I really am excited and looking forward to the challenge of this build and hopefully you guys won't mind helping out a "newbie". Ever grateful to all, George

Hello George,
I would suggest you mount the engine first. Make sure you run some 30 min. epoxy around firewall where it joins the inside of the fuselage,a few had theirs come loose, including me.
