RE: Byron Corsair Build
After spending most of the day doing chores, managed to get some work done as well as three flights on my P-47
Rubbed the wings and ailerons down with some 400 grit wet paper, smooth as a baby's bottom. Alost ready for the trim and booster tabs. Put the servos in and attached the ailerons. They will be glued in at a later date. Nice fit with the required amount of deflections that the instructions call for.
Fuselage attachment seam is slowly being filled, comming along nicely. I will have to primmer the whole fuse, to check for all those pesky pin holes[:@]

Primed the fuse last night, a few pin holes that I missed before. Put on some spot putty and will wet sand again tomorrow. So many small things to complete, but will get there eventually.

RE: Byron Corsair Build
Craig, It looks exactly the same as the Byron F-16 fuse that I have. Byron must have used a lot of effort to get all the pin holes in all of their models Just takes time(A LOT OF TIME) to get them right. It looks really good by the way.
Cheers

Rubbed down the fuselage again this evening. Then went over it with some 400 grit wet paper. She seems good. I will apply another primer coat, then sand it down to a nice smooth finish. Then is should be good, for now.

RE: Byron Corsair Build
Finaly got some time to do a bit on the Corsair. Kitchen is pretty much done, time for some airplane fun. Rubbed down the fuse, looks pretty good, still have a few pesky pin holes [:@] I will deal with them later.
Worked on the elevators...........boxed in the control rods, works well. Just need to final shape, then I can cover them, and add the trim tabs. Hope to progress at a faster rate than I have been.

RE: Byron Corsair Build
Did a little work on the elevator trim, and booster tabs. They are slowly taking shape. I still need to seperate the booster tabs from the trim tabs, was also thinking on making the booster tabs functional.
Before I cover the elevators I will definately remove some unwanted balsa, to reduce the weight.

Booster tabs are still in the thinking process, need to figure size of linkages, etc. Probably some small linkages for small electrics may be the ticket.
Almost ready to cover the elevator's. Think I will use coverall and dope, nice and light, produces a nice finish.

Elevators are pretty much done, and ready for covering. The dremel tool and sanding disk made the task of removing excess balsa pretty easy.

I did not weigh the elevators before I removed the extra wood. I dont think it matters that much, as I know I will need to add nose weight anyways. The more I can remove the better.
Got the elevators covered, and am currrently caping off the vertical fin. The rudder is almost ready to cover as well. I am using some solar tex that I have laying around, looks pretty good. Still need to do the pinking on the control surfaces as well as the trim tabs. Still plenty to do, but the list is getting shorter.

RE: Byron Corsair Build
More work completed on the emphanage. The wood caps on the vertical stab and on the bottom of the rudder area are now in place, glassed and primed. I went over the fuselage with a light and found another 50 or 60 pin holes, filled, sanded and gave the fuselage another coat of primer which will be sanded off prior to detailing raised panels etc. Just need to cover the rudder after I remove some extra balsa to reduce weight.
