Default TF 1/7th P-47

Can the 60 size Top Flite P-47 be built as either the razorback or the bubble canopy or are there 2 different kits?

Also, is there a good build thread out here someone can point me to?

Thanks,

Scott.

Hello Scott,The kit comes with the 'Razor back canopy,' however a bubble canopy should still be available from Top Flite/Great Planes

As to a build thread I think you will do just great following Top Flites excellent instructions. Concerning 'build threads,' your in luck!! Pete of OZ...has a build thread for the G/S P-47 and contained in that 100 and something page thread is a lot of EXCELLENT information on building the 1/7 like yours.

Enjoy going through the lengthly thread LOL but its worth it[8D]

Thanks for the info Fast Richard - I've built quite a few kits (including the TF 1/7 Corsair which should be similar to the P-47) but still enjoy reading build threads prior to my actual build to see if anyone has run into quirks that I should look out for!

Scott.

I'm currently building this plane. It comes with the razorback canopy but includes all the formers and instructions for the bubble version. You just have to buy the canopy. So far, I am very happy with the kit and how the build is going.

its really about deleting formers with the bubble top version mine has taken way too long to finish because of my repeated breaks from building it all the other activities taking up my time

I have the remote glow igniter to install, and the close pipe for my OS120,that I ordered today, due next tues.,and my sons initals for the side of the fuse, and I will take it up for the maiden.
I plan on a tune up session at the field before that this weekend, since the weather hasn't been that good for flying looks like its going to be a good day for flying this weekend so I am pretty pumped, been hitting the sim pretty hard getting ready, just too much wind lately at our field.

this is the one I am using with a flex pipe to keep it in the cowl http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCA97&P=Z I ordered mine from my LHS but its the same pipe, I am using a pumped engine so the muffler nipple isn't necessary so the flex pipe works fine for the exhaust.

Good luck on the maiden, Tim. I've been following your progress on this ever since the P-47 Tipping Over thread. It's always good to see one take flight. Here's a little inspirational photo from our bird's maiden.

I am using the Century jet gear they work well and have good looks, the word on the street is the connector pins between the struts and retract body like to bend but mine seem to be fine so time will tell, there was a slight modification to the mount that needed to be done to get them to sit deeper in the wing I beefed up the gear mount a bit,I also used the Robart retractable tail wheel with a air piston for retraction I go over quite alot of the details here. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_48...tm.htm#4868696
