Prop Selection
Gents,
I am going with a Moki 2.1 (35cc) glow in my Spit. Any suggestions on prop selection for the combination? I was thinking a Menz 18 by 10 carbon fibre prop. Any thoughts?
Anyone have any flight experience with a Moki 2.1 in the Spit? what can I expect??

Anyone interested in buying my kit? It's untouched and I have the yellow AC spinner as well. Included is a Chad Vech stab that is about 80% built. Asking 500 + shipping.
Let me know, thanks!

Good to hear you're still active with the Spit...I am still not finished ..but only a few hours away..too much going on I guess. I will be in Sydney in a few weeks and won't be back in the USA until late March. So earliest I will be able to "Start to finish Spit" will April!!
what happened to your ignition module? On the bench I am getting 5800 to 6000 with a three blade 20 x 12 on a DA50. 5100 sounds a bit low for a 55
Cheers
Len
PS Estimate I will need 2 lbs of ballast in the nose...not figured how to do that yet... Or where to buy the lead!

Boltman,
Thanks for the information about your experience with a Moki in the Spit. I have both the 30cc and 35cc Moki available to go in my Spit. I am gald to to hear that a 20X8 prop worked well. I was concerned on the pitch being low and not having enough speed...Currently, I run my 30cc Moki with FAI fuel and a Menz 18X10 prop on a 33% Cap 232. flies well at 18 pounds.
My Spit, with full cockpit, will come in around 25 pounds. That is why I was thinking 35cc. What weight was your Spit?
thanks

Yes, CAD programs are perfect for drawing RC airplanes , if I learn 3D will be perfect
Here are last pics from today , with this I finish with the drawing , must to cut details and see how is it on real
The engine is DLE -55cc gas engine

For DW CRASH. I have not visited this site in years. I still have and still fly my Spit. I put a G38 in the bird. Flies great. The guys at the field can not believe how well the little G38 flies the plane.
The prop is a 18 x 12, Thus the G38 is using a 18 x12 pretty close to the 35 cc engine you are speaking of with an 18 x 10. Just my thoughts. The plane pulls thru a nice circular loop.
Just build her light. My plane came in at 21 pounds. I have friends at the field with Yellow Spits coming in at 26 and 28 pounds and they are using 50cc and 60 cc engines. You have to keep her less than 21 pounds to use the 35 cc engine.

Hallo. I am restauring my Spit after crashing it many years ago. It was powered by a Supertigre 3250 with tunedpipe and had plenty of power. Dry weight was 9,6 kg or 20 pounds. No lead in the nose. This time i will put a AGM 30 in it and either use the krumscheid tundepipe or the AMG cannister.
Problem is to get a new canopy for it. I have tried contacting Yellow aircraft by mail 3 times during the last year. No response. I have understood that they no longer sell kits but can possibly provide parts. Any idea how I can get the canopy?
Best regards Eivind
