H9 P-51/Saito 100 Muffler hide?
I just bolted up a brand new Saito 100 in my H9 P-51, and I have finally excepted the fact the heads are going to protrude the bottom, but is there any way to keep the muffler in the cowl?? It comes with a threaded hollow connector, and if I could just cut it short enought so the muffler is mated almost right to the head I think i might be able to keep it in the cowl. Will cutting this extension change engine perfomance or effect anything else? Any ideas? Do I NEED the muffler? What about Flex tubing?

Ditch the Muffler
I run a Saito 72 with just the header pipe barely sticking out a ModelTech P-51 cowl. Sounds really gruff and cool too! I have no issues in performance and my idle is super low and consistant, no need for the muffler pressure to draw fuel.

Actually that isn't true in my case, It doesn't go excessively lean when pointed up, and has not dead-sticked yet....go figure......seems to draw plenty of fuel as is.
While this hasn't been a problem for me, tapping the header pipe is easy enough to do and certainly won't hurt performance.....
