Ziroli B25 101"
Anybody out there building a Ziroli B25? Like to get a thread started to share some ideas. Building one myself and trying to put functional cowl flaps on it. Would like to make them functional by using the throttle servo linkage, but the functional flaps are staggered so there is some solid area left to mount the cowl. Anyone got any ideas to make these functional????? Lets here yer ideas!! A few pics of my project.

Well definately haven't been overwhelmed with responses to this thread, but think I've got a workable solution. Brass tubing for bearings soldiered to flat brass strap, some wheel collars, some used speedometer cable, 4-40 bolts, and short pieces of aluminum tubing. Here are some pictures. Haven't tried this out with the servo yet, but works great manually!

Nice lookin B25 Samparfitt, what kitt is it? Thanks for the offer Dan I'll sure keep that in mind as I proceed with this. Bought this partially built from a friend. Retro fitting with flaps, retracts, trying to make it fairly scale looking. Have a flying friend whos brother-in-law was killed in WWII when his B25 (Seabiscuit) was shot down. Gonna do panel lines, and rivets, never done those before, hope I dont screw it up. Installed the gear rails for the nose gear tonight. Thats kinda interesting installing after main construction already completed!!!

The B-25 is also a Ziroli.
Two G-26's in her: the 26's appear to have as much power as my 38's.

I've started mine about 3 months ago. Lot of work and only a little time... I've post some picture on this thread.

I have to take some picture as I have progressed since those pics. Elevator and rudder are nearly finished.

Well the bird is taking shape, it finally has some legs!!! Got the retracts installed and have checked for clearances. Everything looks in good shape. Still got a long ways to go yet. Side windows, gun blisters, rmount engines, route the air lines to facilitate being able to load the bomb-bay!! A few pictures of the progress.

Well I tryed to find my pictures of how I made my Wing MFG aircooler flaps work off of the throttel servo guess I'll have to have a friend take some photos of them and I'll try to post them for you to see and copy for your B-25. I'm also in the prossess of building a 118" Zeroli B-25 and plan of making mine functional like my Wing kit. All I can tell you rite now is to get some gear door hinges and some shimming material. The shimming material you will use to lap together the flaps and on the 4:00 and 8:00 flaps you will install a horn to connect to a piviot arm that connects to the throttel cable on the engine.Thatsway I did mineand as youadvanced the throttlethe flaps closed. Whichat an idle more air would cirulate past the engine keeping it cooler. I've had a lot of people looke at these and were amazedat how simple they worked.Thats 12 flaps working off of one servo per nalcel. Realy helps on the scale look too

Hello
Keep up the good work with the B-25 you will bee rewarded with a very well flying plane. Mine is two years old now and I enjoy flying it very stable and it has no bad habbits at all.
Here are a couple of photos and a link to a little video my wife shot at Mothers day this year.
Good Luck and Best Regards Henrik Hammer.

Cowl Flap Gizmo Idea: You know how an automotive oil filter wrench works... right? Turn the wrench clockwise and the wrench ring tightens. Turn it counter clockwise and it loosens. Place a servo in front of the firewall to open the flaps one way and close going the opposite direction on a double wire ring connected to the cowl flaps. The servo is near the bottom. Splice the servo wires into the throttle servo wire so that when you accelerate the flaps close, and when you decelerate they open. A short linkage will probably be needed to operate the wire ring at the bottom. I'm going to try this idea on my Ziroli B-25.

MarvinLoomis,
A friend and I are thinking of building the B-25 (101 or 118). Can you or anyone for that matter give me the ID of the cowlings at the firewall and then Mid ID and FWD ID. Wondering what engine combs will fit. For the 101" I have Evolution 25cc Gas and for the 118" DA-50s. Can anyone tell me if these will fit either cowls and will they fly them?
Thanks,

Idea for your cowl flaps....at least to those that havent installed anything yet. After looking at the initial pictures with all that tubing and 4/40 stuff and wheel collars, there's a lot of extra weight that could have been avoided by simply using a small micro servo for each of the 4 cowl flaps. You then hook them into a JR matchbox to control them and set precise movement. The matchboxes(1 per nacelle) can simply be "Y"ed off the throttle servo lead from the RX on both sides of the plane. In this respect, you could also set the response to occur via a temperature setting device instead of the throttle servo.
BTW....I have a B-25 as well, although its slightly smaller at 95"

MarvinLoomis,
Great, hope to see you there. If you have time go to my WARBIRDS 2010 thread and post some shots of your B-25 as an aircraft that may be there. Add any other warbirds you have that you may also bring.
