Fantastic Dornier Jet!
Congrats on completing the build and flying the 61.
The extra detail in the rear compartment and antenna all look great and well done on the weathering, my thought is that's the way they looked and how they should be modeled.
My fave are the OD versions and I did 25508 as dirty as they get
I need to patch up my nose gear so Frank lets talk - I'm in Rancho Santa Margarita.

I have a JR 922 power safe receiver in it. Which has the two deans plugs already coming out of it. So I just have one life pack for each connector. Everything is spaghetti under the top hatch. That's the main nucleus area you could say. Lol

PM,
Finally got the P-61 out to fly at Muncie, Indiana's warbird campaign.
Got two flights on her.
First time I used 10 percent flaps on take off, sure got her up faster than usual. Have to give a little down to keep her from climbing too much.
For landing, I used 10 percent flap on the back side, and then full flaps on the final approach.
It was fun flying her: used full throttle the whole time except on the landing: cool going that fast.
I had two 'bum' batteries packs that I had to replace.
Sitting all year, I was surprised the gear and doors worked with no problems.
I couldn't hand start the G-62's so I had to use 24 volts on the starter to get them running (12 volts wouldn't turn them over).

Good, I haven't read through this build, but when I start mine, I know where to look. Hopefully I can finish up my existing builds this winter and get started on either the 25 or 61 next winter. Still haven't decided on power for either one, would like a 4 stroke for the sound, but choices are slim, maybe the FG-57 twin if it will fit.

Congrats Sam!!
I just started dusting off my P-38 for Warbirds Over the Rockies at the end of the month and Surprisingly the gear and doors all cycled without issue as well. I updated all the bats even though they were showing surprisingly good numbers after extended storage. I just did not want any extra worries on a twin. I am having fun setting up the new AS3X receiver using the phone app. vs. my radio. Every time I take a building break technology jumps 5 miles ahead of my experience

Spent some time this last spring and summer re-habbing the engines and installing a modern radio on my "Borrowed Time" Z-61
Finally got the "maiden" done on a cold and windy day last month
video: https://www.facebook.com/DionKintz/p...07276252135661 It's pretty boring because I was fighting a 17 kt semi-crosswind and trying to dial in my landing set-ups most of the flight
OLD G-38's, built by a genius named Bill Fuori about 8-10 years ago. Anybody seen him around lately?

Hey Sam, I have been tinkering with the idea to build a not so scale stripped down version that will fly on a pair of 4 stroke 91's, or 100's, and found a VQ p-61. I ran across this thread again and noticed you mentioned you have one in the hanger. Can you tell me if it will fly on a pair of 91 or 100's?

Sam had a full assembly thread on the VQ-61. You'd probably have to go back 6-8 years to find it
My VQ-61 is still in my hangar, which tells you how well it flies with engine-out, because I've had a few!
It has O.S. .91 two-strokes, which produce a little more power than 4-strokes, but are not quite as reliable
Here's a short video of me flying it with an ASM-61, a slightly smaller model which came out about the same time. Jim's ASM had .72 FS's and it flies very well, although it's not quite the snarly beast mine is with the 2-strokes. Several times after an engine-out or an engine-crabby flight, I swore I would swap them out for 91FS's, but I never did
The ASM has invasion stripes, my VQ does not

Yeah, I should probably sell off some of my planes like the VQ-61, which is in good shape, but not flown very often
I've never been very good at selling stuff, once I fly them a few times and grow fond of them
Besides, I know how much they cost me to assemble and that number is usually enough to scare off any prospective buyers!
So, my friends mock me and call me the Head Curator

I know what you mean, I am the same way. I have a few planes I built, flew a few times and take up rack space now, but to sell them I would not get anywhere near what is in them. I have a CARF Extra 330L with a DA-100, Powerbox, dual Lion packs, and top line servos, never been flown. At least $4000 in it, but doubt I could get half that.
