Well I finally got to fly her. The conditions were not ideal much too gusty but, you can't wait forever for smooth air. The airplane was balanced as per the book,, but I found her to be tail heavy. It was really too rough to do anything much of anything. I never even got the gear up. She was rock steady. the landing was fast with no flaps. Looking forward to our first calm day.

I had to make a turning approach to avoid the sun & land my Hurricane on Monday...looked quite scale in the end as I know they use to have a low nose & banking approach on the real deal for vision over the nose.
Short vid of the landing, my big wheels require a little more air pressure for the next run I think, I also added a little more weight to the nose & she was a lot more stable on the approach & flair (she was a little pitch sensitive before ).

Steff...that engine sounds awesome!!...i'm building one right now & at a total loss as to what engine to fit!..i need a tidy in-cowl fittment....can you put up some close shots of the cowl removed & one with it on please?...would be a great help to me, also what flight imes are we looking @ with that 200ti & the supplied 550cc tank?...close up shots would be great.

Hi Marc, I cant wipe the smile off my face every time I fly the Hurricane, I think the 200Ti has the perfect sound for a warbird, doesn't sound like a merlin maybe but has a distinct growl to it.
I think I have posted these pic's before but may have been on a different thread, these are all I have at the moment as the Hurricane is stored at a mates place but it will give you an idea.
The 200Ti is not fully cowled the front cylinder sticks out a fair bit however I stuffed up with the first install of the engine so the rear cylinder could be fully covered however it does help keep it cool.
As far as the fuel tank goes I fitted a 750cc tank which required a little opening up of the formers BUT not alot & I would average about 8- 10 minutes in the air at the moment depending on throttle management but the 200ti has been supprisingly fuel efficient & I am landing with half a tank still left [X(].
Look forward to seeing the progress on your build.

Thankyou Steff, that looks very tidy....can you please show me your exhaust arrangement?...& i bet the extra weight helped with balancing the model yes?...did you need to add much more?.

I used a set of Saito flexible exhaust's that I've shaped to exit at the bottom of the cowl secured to the fire wall, dont have any good pictures of it yet but will grab the Hurricane next Tuesday & take some of the set up.
I had to add a lot of weight to the front to balance it due to the fact that I did a full cockpit build with a full bodied pilot so had to move the rudder & elevator Servos back into the rear of the fuse.
If you weren't to do the cockpit I'd imagine it would balance with out much if any extra balast with the 200Ti.
Will get back to you next week with more pics.

Thankyou for those pics steff...looks a top job you have done there, unfortunatley i cannot afford that engine & so decided to go petrol.
I would be paying £22.50 for a gallon of nitro...MT propower 16%.
I'll miss that scale sound!.

Hey, I was looking at getting this model since I see only good things on it. On the "Troy Built Models" website it states that a glow 1.60 engine should do the trick also. Now my question is, would my o.s 1.60 2 stroke glow engine be able to handle this airplane?

Don't use a 1.6 OS. It does not have enought power for the overall weight of the model once balanced. If you want to stay with glow go for a Saito 1.8 FS. You would be adding additional weight and less dead weight to balance. The Saito is more than sufficient and it sounds great.

dgiatr - Can you post some pics on your engine installation and with the cowl on. I plan to get this arf and will definately use a gas engine, probably the DLE 30 or the MVVS / EVO 35.

HI Kenair, unfortunately i lost my plane a month ago due to elevator pull-pull rope cut!!!!my mistake was that i used one rope NOT DOUBLE rope for each side of the pull-pull system!! i am building a new one right now but i am only in the beginnig ( i have just finished my cmpro p-40!! 73' span ). i will use the same engine dle 30cc because i think that its suitable for this plane. i dont think its overkill because its a big plane with a huge thick airfoil! but i must say that you have to cut much of the cowl if you use dle 30 custom exhuast. for that purpose i got a pits muffler from sds hobby (pits muffler for 26-30cc gas engine ) and now i hope i will cut less. yuo can also get bisson pits muffler for zenoah engines ( it fits to dle 30cc) and you can also look at this on you tube > watch the cowl cut..nice job!

Hi Kenair!, i have just finished and maiden my second hurricane and everything its ok! i have to say that i didnt used the pits muffler that i told you before because i had to cut much of the cowling that way, i used dle 30cc stock-custom muffler instead! which is the most compact muffler with less cowling cut!! for that engine. i balanced my plane at 11 cm (quite nose heavy i know!!) but it flies fantastc that way and i thinking of not changing it.
