Well damn, I was sort of hoping that I was wrong so that I didn't have to come up with a quiz!!!!!
I'll work up something in the morning for a new quiz and get it posted. Unless somebody has a quiz already to go I will gladly let them take the floor with a quiz with their quiz, so if you have one please feel free to start it.

Ok, sorry I didn't get this before now guys. This was a totally crazy day for me and I barely had time to sit down at my computer today, and when I did I was dealing with RCU emergency admin stuff. Soooooooo..........
Here's a new quiz. This is a short quiz, but if it goes with these first two clues I'm going to look for the cameras here in my office at my house!!!!
1. Single wingwarbird.
2. Single enginewarbird.
I'll post another clue in the morning

With the clues so far sounds just like the General Dynamics F-16 Israeli variant. It was a third lighter than the U.S. version due to the U.S. not allowing Israel to have the advanced electronics suite. Israel also put a more powerful engine in it.
But I'll bet that this is not the aircraft you are looking for!

Sekhet,
That's a really great guess and it does meet a lot of the clues that I have given so far, but it's not the plane that I am looking for.
So for the effort of trying a guess that earns a bonus clue.
1.Single wing warbird
2.Single engine warbird
3.Plane was equivelent of one of this countries allies planes, but itwasn't an exact copy of the other plane.
4.This plane could out perform it's allies plane in every aspect exceptfor landing distance
5.Used until the end of the war as a liaison plane and as an artilleryobservation plane.

Hydro Junkie,
No, it's not the Henchel 126 B. But you are starting to think along the right track now!!!! And with a guess I'll pass along another clue to the group.

Evenbigger D has the right plane. It was the Kokusai Ki-76. It was equivalent of Germany's Fieseler Fi-156, and that was the copy relationship that I was going for with my clues.
Here is the rest of the set of clues that I had for this quiz
Japanese Kokusai Ki-76
1. Single wing warbird
2. Single engine warbird
3. Plane was equivelent of one of this countries allies planes, but it wasn't an exact copy of the other plane.
4. This plane could out perform it's allies plane in every aspect except for landing distance

8. It is not know how many were produced before production ended in 1944.
9. Armed with on flexible rear-firing 7.7mm Type 89 machine gun and 2 depth charges
10. Crew of 2
11. Country of origin was Japan
12. Equivalent of the German Fieseler Fi-156 Storch
13. Was known as "Stella" to the Allies

Evenbigger D; either another clue, or a response, is overdue. You're supposed to post something, usually another clue or a response to a correct answer, at least every 24 hours. Thanks; Ernie P.

MJD is correct on three of the four but I was thinking of Typhoon not Tempest as a rotating weather event. He is close enough so he should go for another question

Interesting... You could have had five planes, rather than four. Although I don't know that "tempest" involves rotation, it's still a storm or weather event. An unusual question. Thanks; Ernie P.

Okay, a quick search says we ain't had this one yet. Hope I can keep you sleuths off the mark for more than 2 replies.
1. This is a jet aircraft, designed and developed as far as it got in response to a Navy request that must have been one of many in the fever for air supremacy with them new turbine engines.
2. More than 10 were made.
