LDM,, thank you for telling me about the fuselage.. I would like to go Gas but I know Glow is simpler and lighter, and a 4St use little fuel. and to add my other plane had a Magnum 180 4St and it really wasn't that messy, a Velocity Stack would help keep it cleaner. I found a Saito 100 for a good price, but then I looked at Saitos to get more info on the 100 and I saw their 115 and 125 use the same 91 Case, wow,, their 115 is looking good to me, I'm keeping my mind open..

Charley, the box and manual does not tell me what the plane should weigh for flight, and I have not weighed it, it's not together yet.. BTW, I have looked and looked and your link is the only thread i found on the VQ .60 size P-40..

something I have to comment on about these guys that put a 20cc Gas engine in their .60 size Warbirds is that they put these 16 inch diameter props on them, and that is much to large for the Scale of a plane with a span of only 62 inches, it's Ok on an Acrobatic Edge, but it seams to me even a 14 inch diameter prop would be long too on a 62" span Warbird, seams a 13 would be more scale

The full size P-40 had a 37' 3.5" wing span and an 11' dia prop. A 62" model is 1:7.22 scale. The correct size scale prop is 18" in diameter.

the Wasp, I installed a DLE 20 in a VQ P-40. I had moved the landing gear closer in to be more scale. It weighted 9 lbs with a 91 FS. With two 2200 ma Nimh batteries, total weight came out to 10.4 lbs. CG was 103 mm at the root. It had plenty of power, and flew a little "heavier" than with a 91 FS. It flew better than a kit built Top Flite P-40. No tendency to snap in tight turns or loops. Landing speed with flaps was reasonable. Had a set of original Lado electric retracts. I replaced the Nimh batteries with two 1,200 ma Life batteries. that got the weight down to 9.9 lbs. The plane had over 200 flights on it and was looking pretty rough. VQ covering does not hold up real well. During the winter of 2015 I recovered the leading edge of the wings, the elevators and rudder and top of fusilage in front of the canopy. About five flights later, had radio failure and lost the plane. It turned out it was the Futaba transmitter. I later discovered it would fail intermittently. It went in fairly level so even though the airframe was totaled, all the hardware survived and is now in a Top Flite 60 size P-40 ARF, which flies great.

Not sure how I stumbled onto this thread but I would like to join this brotherhood. I just picked up a 3/4 built TF giant P-40 model from a buddy which I am in the process of finishing.

I am having Slimline RC build a custom muffler for my P-40. It is taking longer than I had hoped. :(
Once I get it, I should be able to quickly finish the build.

Twice on landing my TF P-40 60 size,bad news. It flew very well but on landing it seems to tip stall. Would raising the ailerons a bit help? Some say it will. Also a bit higher landing speed. Thanks.

Please add me to the P-40 Brotherhood. Been out of the hobby for the last 4 years because of a knee injury. Finally got it operated on 4-28-17. Plan on being able to get up and down again. Have a Top Flite Gold half built.

The stall occurs due to flying too slow or pulling the nose of the plane up too high for the speed your're flying. Yes, moving the ailerons up may help keep the tips from stalling before the rest of the wing.

Keep a little power on during the approach, keep the nose of the plane level or even slightly down, use full flaps, and land on the main wheels first.

When setting up your flaps, mix in the ailerons for CROW. When the FLAPS are lowered, the AILERONS will raise a little to give you more WASHOUT. This will prevent the TIP STALL.....

what brand is your plane, what size/wing span, and what size engine ???

mine is the VQ .60 size 62" span, same pain scheme as your, same tail, I want to buy the Saito 125 for it, but at around 10 pounds I don't think I could get the 125 to idle low enough with a 15 inch prop to keep the plane from rolling at idle, so I am thinking of the Saito 115 and turn a 14 inch prop

Mine is a Skyshark P-40; 80" wingspan, DLE 55 engine.

it's hard to tell how large a plane is in a video, but I thought it was lager, because of how far the flaps hung down
