Speed,
I too dont like the down time between races. Thats why it is so nice to have both RCPRO and SAMs events to go to . The RCPRO group in Tucson usually has a race in Dec and then again in the very beginning of the year. It fills the need for speed quite nicely. I know its a drive for you guys but you should really think about making one of their races. They do a great job and the weather is usually perfect. |
Good luck to everyone, due to circumstances I will not be able to be there although I really wish I could. Give 'em Heck Marty! Hopefully I will see ya'll at the next one.

Great racing at Tucson, even if it was bitterly cold early. It warmed up nicely. Look what the E-Racers had to do with their batteries (see pic)
Now thats when you know it is cold!! Yes they are actually on a hot plate. Great Racing Chris. Congrats to Dean Childs (Gomez) he is our local SUPRA , RCPRO World Champion in bronze!! |

Thanks to all the pilots and workers who put up with the early cold to pull off a fun race. Lot of good racing and very little damage to planes.
|
Just wanted to thank the guys in Tucson for putting on another great race event. Looking forward to the race in February. We appreciate all of the people who give up the time it takes to help put on the event and wanted to thank them.

So...........electrics posted breakouts in all 3 classes?!
|
I agree that electrics can be fast but IMO part of racing is being able to tune an engine, compensate for changing conditions etc.
|
I believe the nitro planes broke out in all classes as well. I know there was one fast nitro plane in the Gold class that did.
:) |
I'd be willing to bet a glow plug that it was your gold plane that broke out. Marty, wonder if I could ask a favor? Can you measure the distance between your wing TE and stab LE? Just want to make sure I'm not setting up my fuse too long.
|
Speed, it is 14" at the root of each. And you can keep that glow plug. You are correct
 |
Speed,
just to clarify, this the KI I was flying , not a Stiletto. Dont know if that makes a difference? I hope you are installing a YS in your plane this year, seems I heard a rumor that you were. Looking forward to seeing you in April. |
Thanks Marty, I'm at 15" so it's all good. Yes I am going YS this coming season. Just shot the first coat of primer on the fuse plug today so I will be ready to start work on the mold in about a week. The wings are pretty much done and I am finishing up on the retract install. Next will be glassing the wing and tail. I think this is going to be my best effort yet. Once the plug has a gloss red finish I will post some pictures.

Your planes are always gorgeous, cant wait to see it in person
|
Is there a schedule for R/C pro yet?
|
It's being worked on and I can tell you the first race will be In Tucson on 2/22/14.
|
2/22 is the same weekend as Q40 classic at speedworld.
|
Had to move it to the 22th cause the Gem Show here in Tucson makes it hard to get a room and if you do they jack-up the price of the room. Sorry but the only Saturday open.
