H-9 super cub
I plan on putting one on H-9 Floats. If anyone has done this, wondered what engine they went with. ILL probably go with the DLE30 because I have one, I wish Saito made a smaller twin in their gas line, say a 35. Was also thinking of their 220 single gas job. I see the foats have gone up in price, was wondering if they are any better? I have had to glass the bottoms on the other two sets I have. Im also bulding up a GP Giant stick with a DLE 55 on 52 inch sea plane supply foam floats. I have changed the tail and the wing. I will be posting pics as soon as its up on the floats

What are you talking about? This is the first post so its kind of hard to tell....I have a PA18 1/4 Scale Cub and I want to put it on floats..I have been thinking about the Hanger 9 set....If you have had experience with them what do you think of them? Do they leak? I have had several sets of the smaller hanger 9 floats for the 1/5 scale Cub and they are covered with film...They dont stand up well...IGlassed mine and that helped a lot...I can build a set out of foam but its a lot of work..I just thought if these were decient floats it might be worth picking a set up...

RE: H-9 super cub
Sorry I have had a stroke and things are a bit foggy for me rite now.. I am fighting my way back.. I am assuming you are Talking about putting a Hanger 9 Super Cub on the hanger 9 floats..I am just finishing the assembly of my Hanger 9 PA18..I have a G26 on it . I usually make my own floats out of foam but if the Hanger 9 set is decient I am tempted to buy a set... I am guessing from your post that they are thin on the bottom and need too be beefed up a bit... I was a member of the Kamloops Chapter ..Now independent..Running a FXR with a 124" SxS

Although they are nice looking floats, and have good hardware, they are a little weak on the bottom. Some good 2 oz fiberglass fixes that. Just wondering of anyone has put one of those H9 super cubs together on floats yet, no big deal. A low Rider with a 124, sounds fun

The early version of the H9 1/4 scale floats were very flimsy...I have a pair...... Later versions were beefed up, though there is nothing on the box to indicate that.......

Wayne22 is probably right about the earlier version of the H-9 floats. I had a set on my Cub that split along the bottom after about 50-60 landings. The 2nd set I have on now seem to be a bit more sturdy. No reason they shouldn't last you quite a while as long as you don't slam them into the water. I have more than 250 flights on the 2nd set with usually several touch and goes on each flight and they are holding up just fine.

Im also putting the 35 RE in this one. I fly on Lake Chemung in Howell.I Do the Skymasters float fly in brighton Mi on Island Lake every year. This is the third set I have put together. As was stated earlier they have improved. I glassed the bottom of set #2 and had no issues. Both the first and second set were on H9 cubs, and both were sold at some pointt. I cant remember how many flights I had on either.

I took a 60 size set that were damaged in a bumpy landing , repaired and glassed them and are decent floats now. To spend all of that money on them only to have to rework them to make them strong you would be better off to build a set .or look around for a used set.

your right, they are ****tty and over pricesd, but they do look good with that scale rigging. I think that you could take the riggijng off thoise floats and bolt them right up to a set of sea plane supply foam jobs. Which by the way I have a set of 50 inchers sitting around

RE: H-9 super cub
Here are a few pics of mine. There is a large thread on this model in the ARF forum.
Mine is electric powered... I sold my 1/4 scale H9 J3 and took all of the equipment out and installed it in the PA-18. I also added the interior kit.
Now all I have to do is wait for our lake to thaw!
