Post float meets here too !
Since the float planes are highly specialized, let's post our Events, Fun Fly's,
Meets, ect. here as well as the other places, and see how it works out.
Use this thread only to post them.
Unless someone complains....we'll have our own listing. That way we don't
have to look all over the "Universe" to look for the Float Meets. [sm=thumbup.gif]
Don't forget to post your Events in the other places too !
Dave.

RE: Float Fly!
In the southeast near Charlotte we have a few coming up.
Joe Nall, most don't think of it as a float fly but it is, also. May 12-15. Woodruff, SC. Channels 22, 23& 24 only. IMAA rules apply. Great place to float fly. Dealing with the largest fly-in along with it could be considered great if you like to see big crowds, bad if you don't like the crowds and want to relax and fly.
KCRC, Knoxville TN May 15. Great small flyin unfortunately on the same weekend as Joe Nall.
Smith Lake flyers, Concord NC, every second saturday of the month, Mays has been cancelled though. Another great small flyin.
Sanford NC, June 12. A good flyin, location in the corner of a lake with trees all around and a power line overhead can be intimidating.

RE: Post float meets here too !
If you were asking me, they will be at several sites in the area. One is located off holt lamplight road in Nikiski and is at a private individuals hangar. Lots of parking, good food and lots of stories. Lake is ~1 mile long (we fly real planes in and out so you don thave to worry about the size).
We have alternate sites at several other lakes, but have not yet determined for sure which ones will be on what day ???? I am still putting it all together.
It will just be a bunch of the guys in the club having fun.

RE: Post float meets here too !
Midwest Regional Float Fly: Sept 10-11. Island Lake State Park, near Brighton, Michigan.
Put on by SKYMASTERS of Michigan.
I am a member of Skymasters and this is our premier event of the year. We have float flyers from all over the Midwest attend, and have even had people from Florida and Washington state come in! The site is a 40 acre clear water lake, 1000 feet of sandy beach, and a 6 acre lawn/picnic area. We have seven stations to fly from, with each station having an "on deck spot" so that pilots can get ready and fly as soon as the pilot in the station ahead of them comes in off the water. We have two retrieval boats always ready to bring in those planes that stall out on the water or worse yet those that suffer some kind of unfortunate landing! We typically get about 100 pilots with all types of planes and occasionally a helicopter on floats. There is also some judged competition (scale, scale sport, and sport), both static and flying.
We also have a Super Raffle (open to anyone that wants to buy tickets) and also pilot prizes (lots of them). In the Super Raffle this year, First Prize is a 96" Beaver from Kondor Model Products READY TO FLY! It has a Saito 180 engine, Hitec Optic Radio, and includes floats and landing gear. It has already been flown and is all checked out. The second and/or third prizes are yet to be announced but they are usually either another plane or radio or something else very nice! (I won second last year which was a Futaba 7CAP radio).
There is also dinner on the beach Saturday night, which you will need to purchase tickets for (available in advance). This year it is an all you can eat pig roast. We also have a food and refreshment stand both days so you won't go hungry or thirsty!
New this year, you can register online at [link=http://www.skymasters.org/events/midwestregional/index.html]http://www.skymasters.org/events/midwestregional/index.html[/link]. It is advised to pre-register (costs a little less and makes check in process much easier).
For more info, visit our website at [link=http://www.skymasters.org]www.skymasters.org[/link], or email to [email protected].

PADDLE RIVER FLOAT FLY:
Just a reminder to all the guys flying in Northern Alberta that the Paddle River Float Fly is on again only this year it is not at Paddle River Dam. They drained the dam, damn! This fall it will be at Lac la Nonne. There will be camping facilities such as toilets and a play ground for the kids. Proof of MAAC required. Nice grassy area to park your trailer on about 50' from the water. Go along highway 33 north of Gunn. Turn at Willow Bend Resort sign. $12/night.
