RE: piper cub pictures
I took these at a Club Float Fly last fall but they are not my planes. I have one nearly done, a Goldberg Anniversary Edition w/floats, that I will be flying at our event this summer.

RE: piper cub pictures
got it on e-bay item # 140238428677, floats are carl goldberg.
wouldnt recommend it, instructions are bad, flys (or should I say flew) worse, wing too big i think. Looked cool taxiing around the lake. One 2 second flight, tip stall, and one and final 5 second flight on floats, land plane it was ok maybe 10 flights. Dont know if it was because something got wet or a aft cg that was the ultimate demise. Last flight went like this... Decent head wind (maybe 10mph) and a slight chop, held it on the water longer that the first flight and takeoff sucessful, started to head for the heavens with no contol input, down stick and reduction in power dropped the nose so fast, with little altitude and full elevelator deflection is was screaming down and starting to round out when it pancaked in the water tearing the whole undercarage out of the plane, and prop hit the floats(repariable). Long story short, looking for a new floatplane for a os 52fs - any recommendations - maybe a trainer this time.

RE: piper cub pictures
Here’s sort of a Cub on floats. It’s a GWS Pico J3 Stick modified to a seaplane. It’s very fast and stable on the water. Nice little plane for flying off small ponds.

carl goldberg.?????
thats a sad story......i have used several sets of goldburg floats, and found them great, maybe a little bit heavy but a good float. i would look at the size of the cub. what was the wing span?,truly sounds like it was it the "setup" not the floats.the setup is really important, spend the time to get it right an you'll have many good flights.do it wrong an its very frustrating.

RE: piper cub pictures
floats performed flawlessly - handeled the rought water well
plane was
Wingspan: 70.5in
Wing Area: 704 sq in
Length: 44.5in
Weight: approx. 5.3 lbs all up weight
maybe a little heavy for the underpowered plane, question? the tank seemed so far forward on this plane, shouldnt it be almost on the cg as not to effect flight charastics as it empties?

RE: piper cub pictures
the 5 or so lbs. is fine,,if it tip stalled, the cg might have been a little back.i really try hard to put the tank on the cg,,,i am flying my cub 80" with the g-20 its great. i am scratch building a set of floats for it. fir a quick flyer try a rtf trainer with a 70" or so wing.
good luck

Kind of a drastic way to dry out a water soaked fuse, isn't it?
