RE: Years of experience in R/C hobby including operating/flying & building

Hey Rat. You're right. That was indeed the Trinity river bottoms but it was between i35 and 183.

RE: Years of experience in R/C hobby including operating/flying & building

Bernie was awesome. He helped me and my dad build a Sr. Falcon. He recommended we flatten out the dihedral by half and also to put a Fox 60 in it. Then he taught me how to fly it. That plane was...

RE: Good first IMAC airplane

Any "pattern" type plane would be great for basic. Even something like a Funtana or Showtime would be good and both of those come in the 40 size. Saito 82 maybe for the engine.

RE: 2009 Basic Narrative

I think it is far more important for the caller to know Aresti than the pilot. After all, the pilot isn't looking at the sheet so it doesn't matter to him whether it is words or symbols. To use...

RE: 2009 Basic Narrative

I agree. I think what a lot of people are missing is the communication from the caller to the pilot.

RE: 2009 Basic Narrative

That is true enough but the caller still has to say words to the pilot. So technically (if you remove practice etc) only the caller needs to know it.

Seriously though, I wonder if is asking for...

RE: Anyone know where to find plans for large funtana?

Give Bill Stevens a call in Colorado Springs. He owns Stevens Aero www.stevensaero.com and offers laser cutting services.

RE: Anyone know where to find plans for large funtana?

Slip stream and P factor are probably the only ones we see where building in changes to the thrust line can help. Torque rolls the plane and gyroscopic precession only yaws when you pitch.

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 106" Yak 54

Hey Brent. Do you have a web site that lists your other kits, prices, specs etc?

Thanks!

Canopy Attachment

I have never been too pleased with how I attach canopies. Basically I just glue them down and consider it done. For the Panzl I am building I'd like a little nicer look.

I was going to paint the...

RE: Power Expander or not -that's the question

Why not skip the li-ions and regulators and go with a A123 battery?

For my 35% I am building I am going with all of the servos plugged directly into an AR9100 and two batteries plugged directly...

RE: 35% Panzl Pak Build

I just wasn't sure on the process for capping the flying surfaces. I ended up calling Al and he gave me some verbal instructions on it. Sounds pretty simple. Readers Digest version goes something...

RE: 35% Panzl Pak Build

What is the last page of the PAK manual. Mine ends on page 21 and I suspect there should be more.

I renewed my membership today and did it on the web. When you get to the part where you select your primary interests I noticed that Giant Scale was not an option. It seems the web site is out of...

RE: 35% Panzl Pak Build

Thanks DB.

Well I used the joined balsa sheeting as the base for the vertical fin. I ran the grain across the fuselage. The curved pieces are still a mystery. Guess I need to make some more

RE: Power Expander or not -that's the question

One board can run two channels with 3 servos each or 4 channels with 2 servos each. You just need to bridge the signal paths together for the servos you want ganged.

RE: Power Expander or not -that's the question

I think that when you start using more than 1 servo per port on the receiver you should start considering a power expander. For sure if you are talking about more than 2 servos per port. It doesn't...

RE: Panzl DA-85 KS 1090

Yeah, I was ordering the engine and pipe and didn't know the drop. Guess I'll have to wait to get them mounted.

Panzl DA-85 KS 1090

Does anyone know what the drop is for the header with a 35% Panzl, a DA-85 and the KS 1090 pipe?

RE: Filming the action???

Not sure if you did this or not, but you pretty much HAVE to set the focus to manual. Leaving the focus on auto will mess up any footage.

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

That's probably not a bad thing for two reasons. One reason is these tend to be tail heavy with a DA50 on it so having the engine forward a bit helps that. Secondly, the cowl is so large on these...
