RE: Goldberg nosegear used for tailwheel

Yeah, that would probably work well also. The Goldberg was actually a mechanical actuated gear but the way it was set up it was driven by a lever on the side of the housing and those who used it just...

Goldberg nosegear used for tailwheel

Help fellas, someone posted a pic here of a Goldberg retractable nosegear unit being incorporated as a tailgear. It was operated by a air cylinder and retracted forward which leads me to believe it...

RE: New Drop Tanks, Bombs, etc.

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

Chop the front of the firewall off and move it back the amount needed to make it fit. I did this for my SPE 40 and it was easy. Made a new beefier firewall and pinned it from the sides as well. Some...

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

Here's the finished louvres and exhaust outlet. I made the doors the same size as the FRP ones that came with the kit but opened them more. I looked at several pictures of flying Jugs and they are...

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

Here's a couple more. Sorry but the files are big so I can only upload two pics at a time. I took them on the highest resolution to try and show the detail.

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

Here's some more nonsense. Maybe I'll finish this thing up someday! Made the canopy/fuse top attach with latches rather than having to undo the screws everytime I fly. Pretty simple really, just...

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

This last pic is looking down in the fuse at the firewall. You can just see the back of the "Y" pipe bending out to each fuse opening.

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

Here's a couple of more pics. I will make some new louvre doors and a dummy exhaust pipe that will cover the holes on the side of the fuse.

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

It's been a while fellers but here's the latest. Decided to make some cooling ducts using the exhaust location on the fuse. I made a fiberglass "Y" pipe that will let the hot air out through the...

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

They will be operated by two 1/4" air cylinders. The tailgear operation is air operated too. The main gear inner doors and tailwheel gear doors will open from one valve and the main gear and tailgear...

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

Pretty easy to make really. Just took a little bit of think'in. I just couldn't find anything that would fit that well or wasn't $150. I'm just a poor lineman you know! I will use one of the original...

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

Just wrapped up my tailwheel. All I've got left is to do is solder the little washer in place(the one in the pic) and my steering arm on the top of the pivot. I made it from scratch with some parts...

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

Someone earlier was looking for a trim scheme. This one was my second choice. I thought it was kinda cool and unique. Another of the Pacific Theater Jugs.

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

A couple of the flap servo mounts. I made it so they are mounted in the wing instead of on the underside of the cover hatch.

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9

Here's some pics of her on her feet. Still trying to decide on the tailwheel. You can also see that I started messing around with some weathering and panel lines on the right horizontal stab.
