RE: New Stingray First Flights!

Yeah, I've been smiling ever since she first flew!
Next time I get my Stingray out, I'll be sure to get a picture of it with my girlfriend. I've been wanting to, but the weather here in north...

RE: New Stingray First Flights!

Woketman,
There are a good many of us who fly out at North Farm. Many of whom are classmates of mine.

Kelly W,
Mine flies great! As far as roll instability, I haven't had any problems with...

RE: Karbonite and Loc-tite is a no no

This is all without mention that the friend who bought these servos did so within the last month - if it is true that Hitec has been packaging these servos with the new correct screw that would...

RE: wingloading in a turn or loop?

To help with the memory, in a level, i.e. not climbing or decending 60 deg bank turn, the airplane will "feel" 2 g's, or twice its weight. However, as the bank angle approaches 90 deg of bank (for a...

RE: Just a lil tip for use faom and compisite guys

0.004" tungsten wire works wonders at the right tension and temperature - an almost non-existant kerf!

RE: MSU Sky Dawgs Fly-In

Hi Chris,
Pre-registration will be $10, and onsite registration will be $15. (I think preregistration will count on Friday afternoon as well, but I could be wrong)

RE: hot wire help

From me, actually... :)

How much wire do you require? Being that I have recently been blessed with a large amount of tungsten wire, I'm trying to come up with a fair pricing system to...

RE: hot wire help

After switching to tungsten wire (like whats in incandescent light bulbs), I haven't had any other problems. Not to mention it doesn't take nearly as much voltage to achieve cutting temperature, so...

RE: Show Me Your Scale Jet Photos, There Is Nothing More Sexy!

Been doing pretty well, Mike. Busy as well - you know school tends to get in the way of most things! Mike, the 15's looking really good. Keep up the good work. What's going on at work?

RE: What is Peel Ply and how is it used

To add to Ed's post - "Peel ply" comes as different materials for the exact same purpose Ed described. Sometimes it is teflon-coated fiberglass, sometimes its nylon. "Peel ply" can be any thin...

RE: Something besides CG?

Don't forget to keep in mind that if you are/have programmed exponentials into your radio, that Futaba uses negative expo to make a "soft center", and JR is the opposite (positive expo makes a "soft...

RE: FX 63-137 data

Sounds like an airfoil for the SAE heavy-lift competition to me... :D

Hey Brian, don't know if you're an Aero major or not, but if you were, you'd know for every airfoil there is a purpose, and...

Rhino V. Solidworks?

ptxman,
You are absolutely right about Rhino being able to take on any sort of common graphic file to use as a basis for your drawings. I have already used it in order to help a friend of mine...

Rhino V. Solidworks?

I can vouch a big positive for Rhino. In my opinion, it is by far the most user friendly 3D CAD software around. Not only that, it *likes* organic shapes - airplane fuselages, airfoils - things of...

Carbon Fiber shear webs??

I would not recommend such a modification.... Carbon like to be in tension, not compression, and shear webs are a compression-load bearing structure. Balsa loves compression - it'll take it all day...

What are the properties of high/low AR props?

Its really not so much a question of aspect ratio as it is the Reynolds number effect. If you don't know, as Reynolds number decreases, L/D goes to pot - and it doesn't matter what airfoil you use,...

What paint should I use to cover my plug? And progress notes.

Actually, if you have a nice last coat of primer wet sanded to shape, you don't have to paint it. I work with a couple of guys from DuPont Aerospace, and they stop after wet sanding the primer, and...
