RE: RCV 91CD full throttle problem

Mike,

Sorry, I was off-line for a while. I am using the RCV-91CD in a Top-flite Spitfire now. Empty weight about 3.8kg without the fuel. I use an OS flexible extension tube for the muffler and a...

RE: Marutaka FW190A - will it fly?

Thanks for the encouraging words. I will give it a try instead of hanging it on the wall.

I was thinking of putting a lighter engine like Saito or a two stroke, but it is tail heavy and require...

Marutaka FW190A - will it fly?

After many moons, I've decided to put in the engine and hardware into my Marutaka FW190A kit. The engine is RCV91CD. With a full fuel load, it weights in at 144oz, which gives it a wing loading of...

RE: RCV 91CD full throttle problem

I think I have found the problem .... it's the O-ring of the the high end needle. I changed the O-ring
and the problem is gone. Now the engine reached 9000 rpm at full throttle with 14x6 prop and...

RE: RCV 91CD full throttle problem

In my case, at peak rpm, there is still about 2mm to go before the barrel is fully opened.

Now I set the engine servo to travel to this limit, otherwise during take-off and if I fully opened...

RE: Engine tuning question

I am using an OS F glow plug and Omega 15% fuel.

Maybe I should try to clean the bearing with WD-40 and see if this will loosen it up.

RE: Engine tuning question

Hi Dar,

Sorry, the numbers should be:

Changed to a small 12x8 prop, engine raced to 11,000 rpm.
Changed back to 14x6 prop - engine reached 8500 rpm at full throttle.

Actually I have...

RE: Engine tuning question

Hi,

I have got the engine back to almost peak rpm. Here's what were done:

Removed the 18" extension - idle to mid was smoother, but still stalling at full throttle (7000 at 3/4, 5000 at...

RE: Engine tuning question

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I will try them all today and report back. First, I'll have to buy another bottle of fuel.
These 4-stroke engines are thirsty with all running in.

Cheers.

RE: Engine tuning question

Thanks for all the comments.

I just took the carb and inlet manifold off - no obstructions there. Also took out the fuel tank and checked the lines - looks ok. I will get the lines changed...

RE: Engine tuning question

I tried again today. Still the same problem.

The engine idles fine. When I opened the throttle, it ran smoothly to 3/4 throttle position, then when I past that point, it spluttered and rpm...

RE: Engine tuning question

One more thing, I attached a 1.5 ft rubber hose to the muffler exhaust to deflect the oil and smoke.
Will this effect the engine tuning?

Engine tuning question

I am breaking in and tuning a 91 4 stroke engine. After adjusting both the low end and high end needles, the throttle advances smoothly to 3/4 open. But past this, the rpm drops and wont pick up...

RE: How to keep weight down. Epoxy or ca

I use epoxy for places where some time is needed for alignment and adjustment. Like stab, tail fin and joining the two wing halfs.

Pilot Akromaster

I just got hold of an old Pilot Akromaster 20 kit. I wonder if anyone has electrified this kit?

It comes...

RE: Royal-FW190A8

Thanks. I hope it will fly as well and it's not overweight. I used a simple mechanical retracts, but make it scale. It turned out to be too long and too thin. Ground handling would be interesting....

RE: Royal-FW190A8

I started building this Marutaka FW190A way back in 2003. Now have got a RCV90CD

Here are some pictures.

Your best bet if you want Pilot kits today would be to look for it in ebay.
