Adios, Hitec

I've had a bunch of radios in my life. Mostly Futaba. Airtronics wasn't bad either. So when I bought the latest 3 ch Hitec for a small plane to buzz around empty cornfields, I thought is was ok...

RE: Hitech Crystals on ebay!

Oh God. Enter the uber-r/c twilight zone. I never said I was changing frequencies. I said I was buying/bought crystals. The exact match, as labeled on the gosh darn radio.

My point was that...

RE: Hitech Crystals on ebay!

Yeah, I've heard that schpeel before. From a Hitec rep on this very forum. You and they are telling me, that if I go to the field to fly and somebody is already there using channel 21, that I have to...

RE: Hitech Crystals on ebay!

I'm not saying that Hitec is a poor performer. And I like their stuff. But when you walk into you LHS and ask for something as basic as crystals and they nearly laugh at you, it's no longer a great...

RE: Hitech Crystals on ebay!

Buddy, you're my new best friend! :D

I Bought this Laser 4 new for $10 as an impulse buy. When the man says all you need to is crystals, you don't ask questions. This ended up being a disaster....

I'm taking my chances. If they aren't right, I'll resell them.

Hitech Crystals on ebay!

Not sure if it's still a big issue. But as most of you probably know (and I didn't at the time). Hitech doesn't sell crystals.

Hello........ some shop on ebay finally has bunches of them. New,...

RE: Hitec tuning

Well, it is what it is. I'm going to send it to Hitec and be compliant. My gripe with Hitec is that they don't sell a TX crystal to the public when everyone does. That where I find Hitec falling...

RE: Hitec tuning

Well I'm gonna restate this in another manor. I'm accustomed to being able to walk into my LHS and buy a freaking crystal set, TX and RX, for Futaba, Airtronics etc. When I went into 1/10th scale...

RE: Hitec tuning

Hitec REQUIRES that they do the frequency change. This is something I never went through with Futaba. With other brands you buy the crystals and change them, your done. With Dumbtec you have send it...

Hitec tuning

Who has ever had a crystal set installed and tuned on their TX/RX gear (done by Hitec), was it worth it and how much was it?

RE: GWs A10 EDf55's

So your saying I won't even need to change my ESC? Just drop in a Lipoly batt and go like the wind?

RE: GWs A10 EDf55's

If I go lipo, don't I basically start all over again? New charger, new batteries, new motors? Seems like GWS might have some explaining to do if their system doesn't work as spec'd.

You want...

RE: GWs A10 EDf55's

I haven't balanced mine yet because I'm having battery issues- like only running a minute of full throttle with a GWS 750mah 8.4v with EDF55's. Anyone got an answer for that?

RE: Home Made CA Kicker

As it was explained to me by my LHS- kicker is only suppose to heat up the CA to cure it instantly. Notably there is smoke and heat associated with kickers. I hate using it cuz it smells so bad and...

RE: Endless batteries

hey BillyGoat

Home Depot with a corporate card and racked up a bill for $120 on a 2 pack. The point to this thread was the endless supply of Sub C's that come from discarded packs. Those cells...

RE: Endless batteries

When you do take them apart you will find the metal strip that jump between cells is easy to pull off, but the solder points need to be ground down with a Dremel. Outside of that I just pulled off...

Endless batteries

I don't know how many of you have ever seen battery hacks on youtube.com, most are false. However I recently pulled apart an 18V Dewalt batt and found it was packed with 1.5v Sub C's. You glow plug...

Boy would I love to know what box you put that info in and what magic button gets pushed from there. Currently this model has a WS of over 1000 inches.

Metric to Imperial in CAD?

Ok guys. The question I have is simple, but I suspect it has a complex answer. In the past I have shy'd away from metric plans. However I have a matter on hand of a sweet .25 Pitts I want to build...

RE: Cad software

Your only gonna hear Turbocad a hundred times. Anything from 11.2 up works on modern computers but I used a version 10 demo on my current machine. Just make sure it isn't "designer" or any of that...

RE: New Builder

Might wanna stick to box type construction like a Stick or your Aerostar, stay away from multi piece bulkheads and formers. Don't do any that require too much ply ($$$). Hope you have a scroll saw....

RE: Why was my post moved?

I was only looking for rational reasoning on a OS .21 carb mounted to a OS .15 airplane engine, found on ebay. Made no sense to me and being that I haven't been involved in RC in the last 15 years I...
