RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

I just spent the day putting old Vortac bomb drop mechanisms into my wing and getting the Lado Tech gear in the wings. This is a tedious part of the build to get right. Thanks Rotccapt for all the...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Really nice setup Corsair 29. I'm may have to borrow this system for my ailerons. I'm building my second TF Mustang now. So far, only the stab is done...fin is under way. I remember the bottom of...

RE: TRex 500 or TRex 600?

I've been flying the 500 for about a week now. It's a great upgrade for me. My prior heli was a Blade CP. What a treat to fly this machine. I'm only doing basic stuff like hovers and basic...

RE: How are you going 2.4?

I put my money into Xtremelink. I like the technology the best. I bought both JR and Futaba modules, since I'm converting a 9303 and a pair of 7UAFS systems. So far the Xtremelinks have been...

9303 Availability without Module

I'm interested in getting a 9303 very soon ( as soon as next week if I could) but I'd like to get it without a module since I want to go 2.4 GHz.

When will the 9303 Air TX be available? Can...

RE: XtremeLink™ - 2.4GHz for Futaba, JR, and Hitec radios

Jim is having problems with potential buyers add 500 of a reciever to the shopping cart, but not actually buying. Since stock is tied to the cart, the software lists the item as out of stock. He's...

RE: Great Planes Super Aeromaster conversion to electric

Will,

Any update on the Aeromaster conversion? I just won the same kit at my RC Club raffle.

I think it's an excellent candidate for conversion. At 7 lbs unbuilt, you are looking at...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Ok, here are pictures of "Big Beautiful Doll" from the Andrews AFB Armed Forces Open House in 1995 or 1996. I got to see this plane fly in formation with 3 other P-51Ds and a B-17 over DC during an...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Hi Gents.

Yes it was a Top Flite .60 kit. It's the same version available now. Top Flite used to offer the Drop Tanks. They are scale. I had added working bomb mechanisms to the plane. ...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Ok. Since I've been lurking here, I thought I would share my P-51 (before the crash). This was build and flown in the 1995 time frame. It had a ST-90 (the source of the crash) and CJM retracts. I...

RE: 1/7 P-51 tailwheels - CJM or Robart?

The CJM are solid retracts. The main issue with them is that they are a bit heavier and more modifications are required to get them to fit. Overall, I see them as the better retract.

Asphalt:

I couldn't agree more with your point of view on the Top Flite kit. Overall, the joy of this kit is in the building. I honestly have not not heard that these kits have a long...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Asphalt, I struggled with doors on mine for two months trying different configurations. The CJM retracts have the same problems you are describing with the Robarts. There is just not quite enough...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Jamie,

Nice job so far. I remember fitting in mine long ago. I spent a lot of time on this step and had to remove an alarming amount of material like you!

I would recommend running some...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

I've taken a good look at the RCV motors too. They are high torque and very good for a warbird. The one thing I know is that they tend to be light and you need to reinforce the firewall. If you go...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

(1) My CJM retracts were very solid. My major complaint with them were that they were too stiff causing too much stress to be transferred to the wings. I did have a machinist friend of mine do a...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

I'm really glad to see this thread here. I built this bad boy back in 1995. I started construction in mid June and finished it in November, just before Thanksgiving that year. This was one of the...

RE: Rear bearing won't come off Crackshaft

If I have any problem above and beyond the actual engine, I would guess it's the centerline alignment. The plane is a Great Planes Super Sportster 40 that I built back in 1993 or 1994. It always...

RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?

tIANci - I don't have any experience with the hyperion motors but I have heard they perform well. Are they more popular in Malaysia?

Glad to hear you have close access to the suppliers there. ...

RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?

No worries Uno!

I fly both glow and electric and enjoy both. Yes, the cost of electric is high, I agree! The difference for me is that I have an elecric club field 5 minutes from my house...

RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?

Uno --- I have to agree with tIANci. Get an EP. I have an AXI 4130/16 in mine and it's awesome. I have virtually unlimited vertical, no meaningful vibration, and 12-16 minute flying time. In...
