RE: Why doesn't AMA pro-rate dues?

Assuming you were a member in 2009, your membership fee was due by Jan 1. If your insurance was due Jan 1 and you didn't pay it until March, your policy probably would have been cancelled, and you...

RE: AMA RCU FORUM BETTER ALL THE TIME

Oh, I'm still around Bill, and have been logging on pretty much daily. Haven't disappeard at all. It's just that there's not a lot of point in posting, IMO. All I see is the same folks spouting...

RE: AMA FEE INCREASE 2011

Not saying they don't exist, but I've never heard of a liability coverage policy that had a deductable.

RE: Wow, some of you are very bitter toward the AMA

He indicated that he wasn't getting anything for his annual dues, and then complained that it's too expensive to try and start his own field.

Seems to me that he really is getting something...

RE: Wow, some of you are very bitter toward the AMA

What you are getting back is the expense of not having to start a field yourself. As you say, it's neither easy or cheap. You ask if you are missing something. Yes, I believe you are.

RE: CA Glue Can Make You Sick????

Ron, actually you're not. The cyano group found in many chemicals is fundamentally different chemically than the cyanide ion that can produce cyanide gas or act as a poison in dry form in capsules,...

RE: Why the AMA is not growing...........

Then one can only wonder why you chose to drop that particular "nugget", to begin with.

Like I said......it's much more fun to just drop such ''nuggets'' in the punchbowl to stir stuff up and...

RE: Why the AMA is not growing...........

Ain't gonna happen. See, it's much more fun to just drop such "nuggets" in the punchbowl to stir stuff up and then refuse to comment any further.

Very bad form, i think.

RE: Why the AMA is not growing...........

You really think that is the reason, Horrace? Care to elaborate on your comment or are you still hanging your hat on innuendo?

RE: Why the AMA is not growing...........

I'm disappointed that they didn't. It's a dry hole.

RE: AMA charges too much

So if you don't give a rip, what are you doing posting here? Other than trying to stir up the "stuff"?

RE: AMA charges too much

I'm sure there are many who share your opinion. Electric fliers who don't want to read about all that fuel "crap", but read and re-read the battery and electric power articles. Heli pilots who...

RE: AMA Forum Regulars. Where are they now?

If I get that far south it would probably be the panhandle area where my daughter lives. Don't have any firm plans yet and it may not happen. I've got one stop in mind and that's in the mountains...

RE: AMA Forum Regulars. Where are they now?

Thanks. I'm not looking forward to going through this again. It's been very badly mismanaged from the git-go. The 23rd is my last day.

On the bright side.......The weather may still be warm...

RE: AMA Forum Regulars. Where are they now?

Actually it's not.

I'm doing quite well, thank you. Haven't been posting much but still actively involved. Other things just have been taking much of my time. New motorcycle and getting...

RE: And still a Bottom Feeder

Well, since this is a "shoot the breeze" thread, I'll change direction a bit and post some pictures of the "new to me" ride that I picked up last week.

It's a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600...

RE: Did AMA's term limits start something?

.......trying to remember my high school civics lessons, been a long time.

I don't think a constitutional convention is required. If the resolution passes congress with the required...

OS 75AX Cylinder Head Bolts

I've got a relatively new OS 75AX, and a couple of the socket head capscrews that hold the head in place have vibrated loose. Should I be using blue thread lock on these? Given the amount of heat...

RE: AMA Buddy-Box Rule

I'm not even sure I see a need for that, CP. The pilot with the master has control of the flight, and assuming that he's AMA, why should it matter how many times someone goes on the buddy box? They...

RE: Aeromodeling Tiers, OK cause voluntary?

Abel,

Are you saying that you think we would be better off without any AMA involvement? That left to their own devices the FAA would just ignore model aviation and we wouldn't end up with a set...

RE: Aeromodeling Tiers, OK cause voluntary?

I believe that they are indeed doing that.

I don't want a situation to develop where anyone who wants to fly a model plane MUST be a member of some organization, be it AMA or any other group....

RE: Aeromodeling Tiers, OK cause voluntary?

Given that it appears inevitable that the FAA IS going to get in the business of regulating model aviation, what alternative would you prefer to the above? It seems to me that multiple sets of...

RE: Welcomed?

IMO there is little doubt that a number of folks who post/lurk here share your feelings.....if not word for word then at least in the spirit of your description.

In the recent past RCKen has...
