RE: A123 Consensus on Cycling?

I believe you are right, according to the discharge curves on A123 systems website 3V per cell would be the absolute minimum you would want to risk flying....

RE: A123 Consensus on Cycling?

Super Test Pro - That's a pretty nice discharger for any battery, never seen one with this much programming capability. You got me thinking.! Would be a "nice to have". The push buttons are going bad...

RE: A123 Consensus on Cycling?

If you google A123 fire hazard you will find several forums where guys have shorted out A123 cells in many different ways, they blow up and make a bang but no flames. Haven't seen it yet but I would...

RE: A123 Consensus on Cycling?

This makes sense to me and it is what I intend to do as well. Test before each flight and the first time the charge is down to below 50% I will recharge since it can be done in minutes and not hours...

RE: A123 Consensus on Cycling?

I have just recently made the switch from Nicads to A123 2-cell packs for receivers myself. I only have about a dozen flights altogether on a few planes so far so I'm pretty new to this technology...

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight

They sure are are amazing pictures, great shots Neil. I love the Spitfire but I'm told the landing gear is such a pain in the *** I don't want to build one.

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight

That's a really great shot of a Spitfire! I have a TF kit and am selling it in favor of a P47, this makes me want to change my mind. Good Work!

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight

Being as the Husky generated some interest here is the un-cropped version and a few others of the same flight.

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight

I have the camera and lens you are planning to upgrade to, D90 with the 70-300 VR. I'm very happy with it. Here's a few shots I took of planes that belong to friends. Keep in mind my skills with a...

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight

Looks like maybe the Pica 1/5 scale being it has a gasser powering it. I'm looking for a new paint scheme for my 1/6 scale, that's a nice one.

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight

Awesome pictures guys, this will be a good thread. "The less rules the better" is usually the best way with anything.
Wish I had something to add but I don't have much for scale models. I built my...

RE: Best scale photo!

I have this lens on my D90 and it works great for RC. Costs $500 instead of $5,000 and you don't need a tripod to use it. ;)

RE: Need Some Help w/Royal 46

My very first engine was a Royal back in 1990, might have been a 40 but I think it was a 46. Ran great when it was new but by the end of the first summer it gave me grief one day and just wouldn't...

RE: "Kit Bashing" a Mid*40

This is not a midstar but here's a picture of my scratced 4* with two inches extra rudder and it now flies with a clipped wing as well with two bays off each wing tip, 12 inches total. The extra...

RE: Vmar ARFs

The 40 ugly stick is what I had, and believe me, it was ugly. There wasn't a straight piece of wood in it! I bought that back in about 96 so maybe like all other ARF's these days, perhaps it had...

RE: transfering parts from plan to wood

Not sure what it's called but it's something like mylar, I buy it a drafting supply store in Edmonton. It comes in sheets about 20" by 36". It's a plastic sheet cloudy in color like a milk carton...

RE: Vmar ARFs

I've only owned one ARF and it was a Vmar stick. In my opinion, they are junk. Just my opinion.

RE: Best Second Plane

Your first instincts are perfect, go for the 4*40. It is very easy to build and fly and the GMS 47 is a good match. I have an OS FX 46 in mine.

RE: Sig 1/4 Clipped Cub (Which engine?)

Found the MVVS on the internet, doesn't sound like it's available in Canada or the US though. I guess we have plenty of other choices though. Have fun with the Cub kit!

RE: Sig 1/4 Clipped Cub (Which engine?)

Well thats interesting! A 1.60 2 stroke burning less fuel than a 150 4 stroke, I thought they were supposed to be better on fuel, apparently not always the case!

RE: Sig 1/4 Clipped Cub (Which engine?)

MinnFlyer
After doing more research here on RC universe and then some comments I heard today regarding Fuji Engines, it seems they may not be the best in quality. I've yet to see one at our field...
