RE: epoxy or polyester resin

Hi fazeel

Your questions reveals you already know more than most of us will ever need to learn :)

RE: zdz40FAI

Really nice mount Magne and exellent idea how you managed to have nose ring. Notches for crank-case webs look narrow so I assume engine does not rotate too much when running.

About vibration....

RE: zdz40FAI

I wish Ýou luck but recommend you get ignition timing light. I have seen them sold less than $20. With it you can verify that advance ingreases with RPM and tune ignition as well. Soft mount might...

RE: IRVINE ENGINES ?

Yes they did have England made batch which were about £15 more. I have one of those Special black 53s with true Irvine carb and remote needle kit which can be monted to the carb as well. It also...

RE: Pull pull setup for elevators

In theory no, it does not change much. If I recall right *t is pythacoras function (and up to cotangent trigonometric functions) which to use if you want to calculate how little it makes diffetence...

RE: What does the nose ring do?

With soft mount we soften the force impact which engine generates when fuel burns during work-cycle. This (torque) force is against propeller load so it twists engine and all which is attached to it....

RE: What is Balancing?

For me balancing is a bit more. I measure voltages of every cell after flight to verify if any has depleted lower. Voltages rise fast but sometimes I can see difference and I charge that cell more...

RE: DA50 in a pattern plane?

Although ZDZ 40 F3A might have enough power for FAI F3A it wont easily pass sound limit. Magne, please run yours side to side test with YS Dingo etc. I believe hard mounted bench test would give...

RE: Re: Remote Mixture Control

Similar pushrod and servo system as is used with throttle operates just fine. Put short piece of fuel tube to the mixture needle. Drill hole (about 1/4'') to servo arm. Hole size should be slightly...

RE: ZDZ 40 RE F3A Soft Mount

Nose ring does not have to be a circle. 270 decrees might be enough. Perhaps it is possible to build smaller mount for a censor to fit missing 90 decree space.

RE: Want to built airfoil tail insted of flat

You have to make a drilling jig next to foam cores. Two plywood pieces few inches apart which have holes for thin wall metal tube. You have to file the tube sharp so you remove material inside and...

RE: Anhedral stab setup

Surface mounted pointers should work fine and give more accuracy than sticks etc.

I wrote vertically but I saw in my mind nose down. For experiment perhaps a chair is sufficient mount for a...

RE: Anhedral stab setup

I have an idea using two laser pointers, beamers etc. and small mirrors mounted temporarily to the control surfaces. Mounting model vertically next to a wall few feets off so you can use tape...

RE: DIY CF pipe info

I don't remember the weight. Carbon sock was guite heavy tow filament and meant for mechanical structures I think. I used it because I had it. There were open spaces on many "corners" and thats where...

RE: DIY CF pipe info

I made carbon pipe with three aluminum baffles and small diameter tube which also kept them in shape during building. I used a cardboard tube as a mold which was then filled with candle wax. I carved...

RE: YS 61R-- adjusting the carb

Most likely it passes the pipe resonance with that toothpick ;) Smallest propeller I had on my YS61 was 12x12. Perhaps I don't remember right but pipe lenght's from plug to the baffle were around 26...

RE: Website Update - New F3A packs

Interesting that voltage fluctuation at min/max current at the start of flight is larger than at end of flight. Is it because of temperature rice of the LiPo cells which improves internal resistane?...

RE: Current draw from glo plug?

I think glow plug wear is ingreased if you have battery connected all the time. Platinium coil resistance will ingrease when it heats up, either by current or catalystic reaction of methanol. So...

If it was okay after your repair you should check diaphram unit casket. Small holes used to be too small and had some offset also and in use the edges frayed and blocked fuel flow. Fraying...

RE: OS Holds Wankel Patent?

British Norton motorcycle had short and clorious period with Wankel in racing. Their engine was also used in some UAV's in 80s.

RE: YS 61R
